The day dragged on, blending into a haze of whispers, fleeting glances, and a few dull lectures. When the final bell rang, Yun Mi-hee gathered her belongings with deliberate slowness, watching the chaos of students rushing to leave. As always, she moved with the kind of elegance that commanded attention without effort.

When she stepped outside, the crisp evening air was a welcome contrast to the stifling confines of the school. Kang Ha was by her side before she even had the chance to notice. They walked in tandem, the weight of amused glances trailing behind them.

It wasn’t every day that the untouchable Yun Mi-hee shared space—let alone proximity—with someone like Kang Ha. The whispers started almost immediately, but neither of them seemed to care.

As they reached the foyer, Kang Ha came to a sudden stop, his gaze shifting toward Jae-i, who lingered by one of the marble pillars. Mi-hee hesitated for only a fraction of a second before continuing forward, though her steps slowed instinctively.

“Jae-i,” Kang Ha called out, his tone surprisingly light.

Mi-hee felt his voice pull at her focus but resisted the urge to turn back. Instead, she kept her face carefully blank, devoid of curiosity or concern. Kang Ha’s conversations weren’t her business, and she had no interest in the cringeworthy melodrama he always seemed to invite.

“I wanted to apologize,” Kang Ha began, his voice carrying just enough for Mi-hee to catch fragments of his words. “For the dare. When I kissed you. If I made you uncomfortable, I’m sorry.”

Mi-hee rolled her eyes internally. His sincerity might’ve fooled others, but she knew better. Kang Ha wasn’t the type to regret anything, least of all his reckless behavior.

Without a second glance, Mi-hee turned away, heading straight for the sleek black car waiting for her at the curb. The driver opened the door for her, and she slid inside, relishing the brief reprieve from the world outside.

Peace was fleeting.

Barely a few minutes passed before the opposite door swung open, and Kang Ha climbed in, settling beside her as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

“Didn’t think I’d let you go that easily, did you?” he teased, the familiar smirk playing on his lips.

She didn’t bother looking at him, her gaze fixed ahead.

“What do you want?” she asked coolly, her tone devoid of emotion.

Leaning back, he chuckled softly. “You didn’t look curious back there, but now I’m wondering. Were you jealous?”

Mi-hee finally turned to him, her expression perfectly neutral. “Why would I be jealous?”

His smirk deepened, as though he found her detachment both infuriating and fascinating.

“You tell me,” he said, tilting his head in mock thought.

But Mi-hee was done playing games. “I don’t live in the past, Kang Ha. Whatever we were, it’s irrelevant. If you’re trying to provoke a reaction, find someone else.”

His eyes narrowed slightly, the smirk faltering for a moment before returning. “You’re cold, noona. But I like that about you.”

She rolled her eyes but didn’t respond, letting the silence stretch between them. It was just an act afterall for Kang ha to come out stronger in his game. But soon enough, Mi hee was going to strike back.

Neither of them noticed Kim Rian standing near the foyer entrance, his gaze sharp and burning with restrained anger. His fists clenched at his sides as he watched Kang Ha slip into the car with the very woman who seemed untouchable, even to him.

First Jae-i—his ex, the girl he still loved—and now Yun Mi-hee, the Yun Enterprises princess herself, somehow entangled with Kang Ha.

The audacity was infuriating.

Rian’s jaw tightened as the car pulled away, leaving behind a storm brewing in his chest. Kang Ha wasn’t just interfering with his past anymore. He was edging dangerously close to his future, and Rian wasn’t sure he could tolerate it much longer.
