Amelia jumped out of her four-poster canopy bed the morning after Hurricane Agatha had decided to grace the OBX with her presence and left many forms of destruction in her path.
Knowing there wouldn't be much to do the day after a hurricane, she had decided against setting an alarm and stayed in bed longer than she usually would.
Even though she had woken up an hour ago, the brown-haired girl decided to pull the blanket over her head and hide from the light that was peeking through her curtains.
Thankfully for her, her friend JJ didn't believe in having a lie in as he rang her 6 times until she answered the phone to him saying he and John B were on the way to pick her up.
Amelia made her way into the bathroom and pulled her long brown hair into a loose plait before washing her teeth and face, leaving her face natural and free of makeup.
She pulled open her drawer, which was filled with swimwear. She grabbed a simple black bikini and put it on before grabbing some denim shorts and an oversized white shirt to cover herself.
Amelia grabbed her backpack and stuffed it with a towel, sandals, and other essentials for their day on the marsh.
The Wilson girl ran downstairs knowing that the guys must nearly be here and they wouldn't hang around in their quest for fun.
She didn't stop to greet anyone in the house as she ran out the back door towards the dock located towards the rear of her house that led to the water where she was meeting them.
"Morning to you too Lia." David Wilson shouted to his only daughter as she ran passed the pool towards the start board walk. She assumed he was gone to work by now but clearly she was wrong.
"Hey dad." Amelia called back as she slowed down to a walk as she saw the HMS Pogue in the distance.
"Where are you going?" David wondered before spotting the familiar 4 approaching his house. "Never mind, don't know why I asked."
"Post storm fun." Amelia told him with a smile on her face.
"Be safe. And be back for dinner, don't forget." The older man called out as he looked over his newspaper.
"I will. Bye." Amelia replied before she picked up her pace.
Amelia didn't understand why her dad hadn't decided to cancel his business dinner, she couldn't see the ferry running after the storm or his partners wanting to travel to a wrecked island that was covered in fallen trees and mess.
