Isa walked down the school hallway, trying to blend in with the crowd. As Flynn, she had to be careful not to draw attention to herself.
But as she turned a corner, she saw something that made her heart skip a beat. A group of jocks were surrounding a nerdy-looking kid, teasing him mercilessly.
Isa's instincts kicked in, and before she knew it, she was striding over to the group, her eyes flashing with anger.
"Hey, leave him alone!" Isa shouted, her voice ringing out across the hallway.
The jocks turned to face her, their eyes narrowing. "Mind your own business, Flynn," one of them sneered.
But Isa stood her ground, her heart pounding in her chest. "I am minding my own business. And my business is telling you to leave him alone."
The jocks snickered, but eventually backed down, slinking away with their tails between their legs.
The nerdy kid looked up at Isa with gratitude in his eyes. "Thanks, Flynn. I owe you one."
Isa smiled, feeling a sense of pride and satisfaction. She had stood up for what was right, even if it meant risking her cover.
But as she turned to walk away, she caught a glimpse of Carmen watching her from across the hallway, a curious expression on her face.
Isa's heart skipped a beat as she realized she might have just blown her cover.
After classes were over Isa made her to the lockers to change for cricket.
As Isa walked to the cricket field for practice, the same group of jocks from earlier confronted her. This time, they were more aggressive.
"You think you're tough, Flynn?" one of them sneered, shoving Isa against the wall.
Isa tried to defend herself, but the jocks were too strong. Just as they were about to deliver the final blow, Carmen appeared out of nowhere, shouting at the jocks to leave Isa alone.
The jocks backed off, and Carmen rushed to Isa's side, helping her up. "Are you okay, Flynn?" Carmen asked, concern etched on her face.
Isa nodded, wincing in pain. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for stepping in."
Carmen smiled and took Isa's arm, leading her to the nurse's office. As they sat down, the nurse asked Isa what had happened.
Isa hesitated, remembering Flynn's warning not to rat out people. "I just... tripped and fell," Isa stammered.
The nurse raised an eyebrow but didn't press the issue.
As Carmen helped Isa clean up her scrapes, she said, "You know, Flynn, I've noticed a change in you lately."
Isa's heart skipped a beat, was she busted already?. "What do you mean?"
Carmen smiled. "You're... nicer. More considerate. I like it."
Isa felt a flutter in her chest. No one had ever said anything like that to her before.
"Thanks, Carmen," Isa said, trying to sound casual. "I'm just trying to be a better person."
Carmen's eyes sparkled. "I think you're doing a great job, Flynn."
Isa's face heated up, and she looked away, trying to hide her blush. She could still feel her ribs aching those jocks had done a number on her, but Carmen made it feel better.
