As the sleek black car cruised through the bustling streets, Selena sat in the backseat, clutching her small purse, her curiosity bubbling over. She glanced at Daniel, who was leaning back casually, his sunglasses resting on his head.
"Okay, seriously, Daniel," Selena began, breaking the silence. "Where are you taking me? I'm not great with surprises, you know."
Daniel turned to her, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. "If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?" He leaned slightly closer, lowering his voice. "Trust me, though. You're going to love it."
Selena arched an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "You sound awfully confident for someone who doesn't even know my favorite color."
Daniel chuckled, the sound warm and smooth. "It's white," he said, glancing meaningfully at her outfit.
She blinked, momentarily taken aback. "That was a lucky guess," she retorted, a shy smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"Was it?" he teased, his gaze lingering just a moment too long.
Selena felt her cheeks heat up and quickly looked out the window. "Fine," she muttered. "Keep your secrets. But if this 'surprise' turns out to be something boring, you're buying me ice cream."
Daniel laughed, leaning his elbow on the door and propping his chin on his hand as he looked at her. "Deal," he said, his voice dripping with charm. "But I'll make you a counter-offer. If you absolutely love it, you owe me a second outing. Deal?"
Selena's heartbeat quickened, and she hesitated. "Fine," she said finally, trying to sound indifferent. "But don't get your hopes up."
Daniel grinned, his confidence unwavering. "We'll see about that."
The tension in the car seemed to sizzle, every playful exchange making the air between them feel just a little more electric.
As the car slowed and the driver gently hit the brakes, Daniel leaned forward slightly, a spark of anticipation in his eyes. The sprawling expanse of Tibidabo Amusement Park came into view, its vibrant colors and towering Ferris wheel standing out against the clear Barcelona sky.
Selena gasped softly, her eyes lighting up as she stared out the window. "Tibidabo?" she murmured, her voice tinged with surprise and excitement.
Daniel opened the door for her, stepping out first before extending a hand to help her. "Surprise," he said, his voice warm. His gaze didn't leave her as she stepped out, her face glowing with genuine delight.
"I can't believe you brought me here," Selena said, unable to hide her smile.
She glanced around, taking in the lively atmosphere: the cheerful screams of children on the rides, the aroma of caramelized churros wafting through the air, and the chatter of families strolling about.
"I've wanted to visit for so long." Selena said, excited and full of energy.
Daniel shrugged, his lips curving into a confident smile. "I had a feeling you'd like it," he said casually, though his heart swelled at the sight of her joy.
Selena turned to him, her expression softer now. "You're full of surprises, aren't you?"
He laughed lightly, his hands slipping into his pockets. "Stick around, and you'll see I'm full of many things." His tone was playful, but there was a sincerity in his eyes that made her blush.
Selena took a step closer to him, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Well, let's see if this surprise of yours lives up to the hype.
"Daniel grinned, nodding toward the entrance. "Challenge accepted," he said. As they walked through the gates together, he found himself glancing at her more than the park, captivated by her wonder.
At one point, he leaned slightly toward her. "You know," he said, his voice quieter now, "seeing you smile like that... it was worth all the planning."
Selena stopped, looking up at him, her cheeks warming again. She was about to respond when a loud burst of laughter from a nearby ride interrupted the moment.
"Come on," Daniel said, taking a step back and motioning toward the roller coaster. "Let's start with that. Unless..." He leaned in, his smirk returning. "You're too scared?"
Selena rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Oh, please. I'll leave you screaming on the first drop."
Daniel chuckled, holding out his hand as an invitation. "We'll see about that. Shall we?"
As she hesitated for a second before taking his hand, the electricity between them was undeniable. Daniel's heart raced, and for once, the amusement park rides weren't what thrilled him most.
As Daniel and Selena stood in the queue for the roller coaster, Daniel's phone buzzed in his pocket. He fished it out, glancing at the screen. It was a message from Juan.
Juan: "Yo, dude! Where are you? Aren't you coming for today's football match?"
Daniel sighed, shaking his head with a small smile. He quickly typed back, "Not coming. Told Marco already."
Meanwhile, Marco, who was standing with Juan, caught sight of Daniel's reply over his shoulder. "He's with Selena," Marco said with a teasing grin. "They went out on a date today."
Juan's eyebrows shot up, and he smirked. "Ohhhh, a date, huh? Daniel's ditching us for romance!"
He immediately shot another message to Daniel. "Bro, where even are you? Did you ditch the squad for a girl? Spill the tea!"
Daniel's phone buzzed again just as he was stepping forward in the line. Selena looked at him curiously. "Everything okay?" she asked softly.
"Yeah, just... friends being nosy," Daniel muttered, his cheeks faintly flushing as he typed back a curt response. "None of your business."
Over with the boys, Juan cackled. "Look at this guy, acting all mysterious! 'None of your business.' Oh, please. What are they doing? Holding hands? Sharing cotton candy?"
Marco leaned in, snickering. "He's probably sweating bullets, trying to look cool in front of her."
"Bet he's pulling out all the moves," Juan added, mimicking exaggerated gestures. "'Oh, Selena, let me hold your bag for you. Oh no, I'm so scared of the roller coaster, can I hold your hand?'"
Back in line, Daniel read the last message from Juan and sighed dramatically, sliding his phone into his pocket. "This is why I avoid group chats," he muttered under his breath, though a smile tugged at his lips.
Selena raised an eyebrow, amused. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing," Daniel said smoothly, taking her hand again as the line moved. "Just my friends acting like children."
If only she knew how right he was.
