Selena and Daniel hopped onto the roller coaster, the anticipation building as the ride slowly climbed to its peak. Daniel tried to keep his composure, glancing at Selena, who seemed unusually calm, even as the ride jerked upward.
"You're not even a little nervous?" Daniel asked, gripping the safety bar tightly.
Selena smirked. "Not really. You?"
Before Daniel could answer, the roller coaster dropped, sending them hurtling down at breakneck speed. Selena let out a small laugh, her hair whipping in the wind, while Daniel's scream echoed through the air.
"AHHH—THIS IS INSANE!" Daniel shouted, clinging to the bar as if his life depended on it.
When the ride finally slowed and came to a stop, Selena was laughing softly as Daniel tried to catch his breath.
"Don't tell me you were scared," Selena teased, stepping off the ride gracefully.
"Scared? Me? Nah," Daniel said, running a hand through his hair to play it cool. "I was... just making sure the ride worked properly."
Selena laughed. "Sure, let's go with that."
They spent the rest of the day exploring the park. They rode the bumper cars, and even a water ride where they both got splashed and couldn't stop laughing.
At one point, Daniel bought Selena a bag of churros. She took one and smiled. "These are amazing."
"Good, because I wasn't about to share if you didn't like them," Daniel teased, winking.
They strolled through the park, chatting about everything from their favorite childhood memories to the quirks of their friends.
"You know," Daniel said at one point, "I never thought I'd have this much fun today."
"Why's that?" Selena asked, curious.
"Because I was worried I'd mess it up," he admitted, looking at her with a soft smile. "But being with you makes everything feel... easy."
Selena felt her cheeks warm at his words, but she managed to keep her tone light. "Well, I'm glad I could make your day easier, Daniel Reyes."
As the golden hues of the setting sun bathed the city, Selena tugged Daniel's sleeve gently. "Let's go to the Ferris wheel," she said with a soft smile.
Daniel couldn't resist her enthusiasm. "Anything you want, Señorita Selena," he replied, his eyes twinkling with warmth.
They approached the Ferris wheel, its lights flickering to life as twilight deepened. The two stepped into the cabin, the world around them beginning to shift as the ride ascended.
The gentle creak of the wheel and the distant hum of the amusement park faded, leaving only the sound of their quiet breathing and the occasional rustle of the evening breeze.
As they reached the top, Selena gasped softly. Below them stretched the breathtaking view of Barcelona, the city sparkling like a sea of stars. The Tibidabo Church stood illuminated in the distance, its grandeur seeming even more magical against the backdrop of the dusky sky.
"Wow," Selena whispered, pressing her fingertips lightly to the glass. "It's... so beautiful."
Daniel wasn't looking at the city; his gaze was fixed on her. The way her eyes lit up, the soft curve of her smile, the way the colors of the sunset danced in her hair—it was all he could focus on.
"Yeah," Daniel murmured, his voice low and sincere. "It really is."
Selena turned to him and caught him staring. "You're not even looking at the view," she said with a playful tilt of her head.
"I am," Daniel replied, his lips curling into a soft smile. "Just not the same one you are."
Her cheeks flushed as she quickly glanced back at the city, trying to hide the shy grin spreading across her face.
The Ferris wheel paused briefly at the top, giving them a moment suspended in the beauty of it all. Selena wrapped her arms around herself, the cool evening air brushing her skin. Without thinking, Daniel shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"Thanks," she said, her voice quiet but grateful.
"You looked like you needed it," Daniel said, his tone soft, almost intimate. "And I—well, I don't want you catching a cold."
Selena couldn't help but smile. For a fleeting moment, everything felt perfect—just them, the serene view of the city, and the warmth of his gesture.
As the Ferris wheel began its descent, Daniel leaned back in his seat, looking at Selena with a rare vulnerability. "Thanks for coming today," he said. "I don't think I've had a day this good in... a long time."
Selena glanced at him, her heart fluttering at the sincerity in his eyes. "Me neither," she admitted softly.
As their cabin touched the ground, they both knew this moment would linger with them long after the Ferris wheel had stopped spinning.
On the other side of the city, the football match had come to a tense conclusion. Rafael's team had claimed victory over Juan's team—Daniel's usual squad. Sweaty and triumphant, Rafael couldn't resist throwing in a jab as the teams gathered post-game.
"Guess your lord Daniel didn't show up because he was scared to lose," Rafael said, smirking as he leaned on his knee, catching his breath.
Juan's eyes narrowed, and he shot back, "Or maybe he just had better things to do than waste time here." His tone was teasing, but the spark in Rafael's eyes hinted at something deeper.
"Better things to do, huh?" Rafael said, straightening up. "Like what? Babysitting Selena?"
Juan and Marco exchanged a glance before bursting into laughter. Marco added fuel to the fire, grinning slyly. "Seems like your precious bet is slipping through your fingers, Rafael. Daniel's making all the moves while you're stuck here."
Rafael's jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides. "Bet or no bet, I'm not scared of Daniel," he snapped, his voice rising.
Mateo, sensing Rafael's growing frustration, stepped in. "Chill out, man," he said, placing a hand on Rafael's shoulder. "It's just a game—and whatever's going on with Daniel and Selena, let it be."
But Rafael shook him off, his temper flaring. "Let it be? While he's out there, what? Taking her to some fancy place, playing the perfect gentleman?" His voice was dripping with sarcasm and jealousy.Juan grinned, clearly enjoying Rafael's unraveling. "Oh, he's more than the perfect gentleman, amigo," he teased. "From what I hear, they're having the time of their lives. You wouldn't believe it even if I told you."
Rafael took a step toward Juan, his glare sharp enough to cut. "Say it again, I dare you."
Marco held up his hands in mock surrender, still chuckling. "Relax, man. We're just saying... looks like Daniel's got this one in the bag."
Mateo quickly stepped between them, firmly pushing Rafael back. "Enough!" he said, his voice steady. "This isn't about Daniel or Selena right now. We just won a game—can we focus on that?"
Rafael ran a hand through his hair, trying to steady his breathing, but his thoughts were elsewhere. He couldn't stop imagining Daniel and Selena together—laughing, talking, maybe even... no. He shook his head, trying to push the image away.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Selena and Daniel were sharing a carefree, laughter-filled day, blissfully unaware of Rafael's internal turmoil. For Daniel, it was a day of growing feelings; for Selena, a magical surprise.
But for Rafael, it was anything but peaceful. His victory on the field felt hollow, overshadowed by a gnawing jealousy he couldn't quite shake.
