Danny perched lazily on Roddie's shoulder, swinging his legs as the Vehicon strolled through the Nemesis halls with his usual partner, C-27. Danny wasn't technically supposed to be tagging along, but patrol duty was boring enough that even the drones didn't seem to mind when he showed up to hang out.
"So," Danny started, "what's the weirdest thing you've ever seen on patrol? Like, other than me?"
C-27 didn't respond, but Roddie's helm tilted to the side as he considered. "Well—" Before he could answer, both drones suddenly stopped mid-step, their postures snapping to attention. C-27 raised his servo to his audial as he listened to something. Danny realized quickly that they were receiving a message.
"Alert: Intruder detected," C-27 said. "All units report to the energon storage bay immediately."
Both Vehicons took off down the hall towards the storage bay. Roddie glanced over to Danny, still on his shoulder, as if just remembering he was there. "Is it not unsafe to bring the human?" He asked his partner.
Danny waved dismissively. "Relax, I'll stay out of your way."
Roddie's field still flared with uncertainty, but C-27's no-nonsense tone cut through. "We will place him somewhere secure when we arrive."
Roddie hesitated, then nodded, and the two drones continued down the corridor. When they reached the storage bay, several other Vehicons were already gathered, blasters raised and pointed at the large, sealed door.
"Okay, kid, off you go," Roddie said, carefully scooping Danny up and setting him down behind a support beam.
Danny ignored how he was placed hidden and stepped out into the open anyway to see what was going on. "Intruder! Exit the storage room with your servos raised and weapons disabled!" F-368 called out.
A muffled voice echoed from behind the locked door:
"BEWARE, FOR I AM THE BOX GHOST! TREMBLE BEFORE MY WRATH AND YOUR CUBULAR DOOM!"
Danny froze, his face falling into his hands with an exasperated groan. "Oh, no. No, no, no. You have got to be kidding me."
The Vehicons exchanged confused glances. "What... is that?" one of them asked.
The door remained closed when suddenly a glowing, spectral figure floated through it. The Vehicons were aiming higher on the door, not expecting the intruder to be human-sized. All weapons aimed lower to him instantly. In Box Ghost's hands were two stacked energon cubes, glowing brightly in the dim light.
"Victory is mine!" the Box Ghost declared triumphantly, his voice echoing through the halls. "No one can stop me now!"
The Vehicons stared in stunned silence, their weapons still trained on him but unmoving. Danny wanted to laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation.
The silence broke with the opening of the door and the screech of an all-too-familiar voice.
"SEIZE HIM!" Starscream commanded, wings flared, and optics blazing.
The Box Ghost cackled, lifting the energon cubes high. "You can never contain the Box Ghost! I am untouchable!"
Danny groaned again. "I can't believe this is happening."
Box Ghost then took off down the hallway, phasing through one of the Vehicon's legs, which had been standing in his path. Two of the Vehicons shot their blasters at him, which he easily dodged by flying back and forth.
He was looking back at them to call something more out when suddenly the ghost smacked directly into Danny, sending the energon cubes clattering to the floor. The ghost flailed, disoriented, before gasping in recognition.
"GHOST CHILD!" he cried, pointing an accusatory finger. "You're here to foil my plans again!"
Danny stared at him, deadpan. "Look, Boxy. What are you even doing here? Why are you stealing energon cubes?"
"They are CUBES!" Box Ghost declared, as if that answered everything. "Perfect, glorious cubes! I must possess them!"
Danny pinched the bridge of his nose, muttering under his breath. "Of course. Of course, it's because they're cubes. Should have known you would show up sooner or later."
"What is this thing ?" Starscream demanded.
Box Ghost spun dramatically, waving his arms at the gathered Decepticons. "Fools! Your pathetic weapons are no match for the might of the Box Ghost!"
"Starscream, you really don't want to deal with this guy," Danny interjected, stepping between Boxy and the Con's.
Starscream glared at him. "Do not presume to—"
"Trust me," Danny cut in. "He's not worth it."
The Box Ghost puffed up indignantly. "I am worth it! And I—"
Danny didn't let him finish. He simply reached to his hip, pulled the Fenton Thermos from his belt and pointed it at the Box Ghost. Who's eyes widened at the device.
"Wait! WAIT!" Box Ghost cried, flailing as the thermos activated. "You haven't seen the last of me! I shall return! Beware—"
The last of his rant was cut off as the thermos snapped shut. Danny capped it and turned to the stunned group of Decepticons.
"Crisis averted," he said nonchalantly, bending to pick up the fallen energon cubes. "I'll deal with him."
Danny then deposited the two dropped cubes into Roddie's open servos and started walking off without so much as a backward glance.
The drones looked at each other, then at Starscream, all standing in silence.
What just happened?
