Yoongi's POV

I was in my room, sitting in my wheelchair, my only true companion. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door. I called out, thinking it was Miss Maria, but a different voice responded. It must be the new caregiver, I thought. Without turning around, I said, "Go away. You won't last long taking care of me. I don't need your pity," in a calm tone.

"But I'm not here to show you pity."

I sighed in annoyance without looking back. "Everyone says the same thing, that they're not here to show pity, but they always leave after a few days. Just go. It'll be quicker," I replied seriously.

I heard her step closer. "But how can you say that without giving me a chance?"

"I've given many people chances, and they always leave. I'd rather you just leave me alone," I said, feeling bored.

"Then you'll have a chance to add my name to that list if I run away, too. But if I stay, you might find a caregiver and maybe a...... friend."

I sighed. "Okay, I'll give you five days. If you make it, I'll consider it. If not, you're gone."

"Thanks. I won't let you down. I promise."

"Fine," I said seriously, still staring out the window. I wanted this to be over quickly. I didn't expect much from her, just like I hadn't from the others before.

"Will you at least look at me?"

"Do I have to?" I asked without facing her, not wanting to waste time on this.

"Huh? Uh, w-why not?." I heard her say awkwardly.

"Because I don't care," I replied, feeling bored. I could tell she wouldn't stick around for long.

"O-ok. That's fine... You don't have to if you don't want to."

I sighed and slowly turned my chair to face her. "Well?" I asked seriously, curious about what she wanted.

"Wow!"She exclaimed, staring at me with wide eyes. I frowned at her reaction. "What?" I asked.

She laughed nervously and said, "Uh, n-nothing. You... you're just so... beautiful."

I rolled my eyes and muttered, "same thing." "I'd rather you not treat me differently because of it."

I said seriously, tired of hearing that compliment. It annoyed me more than it pleased me.

"I... I'm sorry, I just... said it without thinking." She stammered, looking down, maybe regretting her words.

I sighed and turned back to the window. "Whatever."

"I'm sorry."

I sighed again at her apology and asked, "How old are you?"

"I'm 26."

"Ah, you're younger than me. How annoying." I said, looking out the window, sensing she wouldn't last long.

"Why is that annoying?"

"Because you're still seen as a kid," I replied without looking at her.

"And how old are you, Grandpa?" I heard her say in a teasing tone.

I turned to her, irritated by the "grandpa" comment. "I'm only three years older than you, so don't call me that."

"And I'm not a kid, so don't call me that." She shot back.

"If you call me Grandpa, I'll call you kid, end of story." I replied quickly, standing my ground.

"But you were the one who called me that first."

"Yeah, sure." I replied seriously, not wanting to argue. I was already feeling tired and annoyed with the situation.

"Do you talk like this to everyone?" she asked.

"No, just to idiots." I said, glancing at her, trying to hide that I act this way with everyone except Miss Maria.

I heard her laugh softly. "Oh, thanks for the compliment," she said.

"It wasn't a compliment." I rolled my eyes and turned back to the window, fed up with the conversation.

"But I took it as a compliment," she replied.

"You're odd; you see things differently."

"Yeah, because I'm unique."

"And annoying too," I said seriously, hoping to end this long and irritating chat.

"Hey, come on! You can't say that to my face," she said with a laugh.

"Why not? I just did." I said calmly, still looking out the window.

She laughed again and said, "You know, you sound like an old friend I haven't seen in ages."

"We're not friends," I said firmly, still not looking at her.

"I know. But we could be friends, right?"

"No, thanks."

"Why not?"

"Because you're annoying."

She laughed again and said, "I like your honesty."

"And I don't like you being around and talking so much," I said seriously, hoping she'd take the hint.

"Okay, okay, relax. You could have just told me to be quiet. But I appreciate your politeness," she teased.

"I really want you to be quiet, seriously."

"Okay, okay, my lips are sealed now. I'm sorry."

I sighed and looked out the window again, muttering, "Thank goodness."

"I understand that I'm here to help you, and since you've given me this chance, I want to take my role seriously. I've brought your lunch."

"Just set it on the table and go" I replied without looking at her.

"I can't do that. It's my responsibility as your caregiver to ensure you eat well."

I sighed and moved my wheelchair closer to the bed, trying to get up even though I knew I couldn't do it alone.

"What are you doing?" she asked, placing the tray on the table and helping me sit comfortably on the bed. "You need to eat properly."

I rolled my eyes and started eating while she stood there awkwardly. "You can leave; I'll call you when I'm finished."

"Are you sure?"

I nodded. "Please go; I don't need you acting like my mom."

"I'm not trying to be your mom, I promise."

"Sure", I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

"Okay, just call me when you're done", she said before leaving the room.

After a while, I finished eating and called out, "hey, are you there?"

She returned shortly and took the empty tray, placing it on the bedside table. "Do you need anything else?"

I shook my head. "No thanks, just let me be."

"Fine", she said, heading toward the door.
