(Enzo's POV)
We're at breakfast and Isa is opening her gifts. Her smile only grows bigger as she opens other presents.
Then, her brother shows up with a bag. Once she opens it, she looks up at her brother with tears. I stretch my neck and see a pendant with a picture of a little Isabella, her brother, and parents. She then hugs James and starts to cry even more.
I hear her say that her mother is an alcoholic who married an asshole of a stepfather. She's talking about how she would love to live with her father. The way that she is crying breaks my heart. James is rubbing his hand on her back to try and calm her down.
She sits back down a few minutes later. She's looking at us with sparkling eyes and a red face. "I'm sorry guys. I know it's lame, but it's just tough."
The way that she felt the need to apologize tore me apart.
Did she really think that we were judging her for opening up?
I pull her closer to me and she rests her head on my shoulder. She begins to try to explain why she was crying as if we were judging her. "You don't have to explain yourself." I tell her as I stroke her light brown hair.
I can feel her loosen up her shoulders at my words.
"We're so sorry, Isa. We had no idea." Regulus says softly.
"I don't really tell anyone this about me. It left some deep marks on me, but it's nothing I can't handle." She sniffled. "We're here for you, so just come talk to us when you feel like it." Theodore says as he gently stroked his hand over hers.
"Theo's got a point. You won't have to face anything alone ever again." Draco smiled reassuringly.
Let's see, Isa feels like she can't be herself around us, she is balling her eyes out, she is reminded that her life at home sucks, and her mother didn't wish her a happy birthday.
Damn, that's a shitty way to start your birthday.

Isa insisted that she was fine and that she wanted to be alone for a little while.
Me and the boys were hesitant, but we left her be.
We head back to our dorm and sit on our beds in silence. "I feel bad for Isabella." Five mumbled to no one specifically.
"Yeah, me too." Tom agrees.
"Does it bother anyone else that she felt the need to apologize for crying?" Mattheo takes the thought right out of my mind.
"Yeah, I thought she was comfortable around us. Apparently not." Draco muttered, there was no hiding the hurt in his voice.
I buried my face in my hands. She mattered to us. We have no idea why, but she does. We have no clue to why she interested ALL of us, but she did. And it was fucking killing us.
"I want to check up on her." Theo blurted out. "Me too, but she said she wanted to be alone." I say.
We don't usually take "no" for an answer, but we didn't want her to be mad at us.
"Why don't we ask her roommates? They care about her." Regulus suggested. "Sure, where are they?" Tom asks just before there is a knock on the door.
"What is it?" Mattheo groans as he opens the door to see Pansy and Daphne.
"What did you do to her?" Pansy basically shouted as the two girls bombarded into the room.
"What are you talking about?" I questioned showing just a little bit of genuine interest.
"Isabella. She is lying on her bed writing some depressing ass song!" Daphne clarified rather angrily. "So? What did you do? You didn't forget her birthday, did you?" Pansy accused.
"No, her brother gave her a gift that reminded her of how shitty her life at home is." Tom said so nonchalantly that the girls were confused if he had actually meant it.
"What song is it?" I cut in. "Like, how does it go?"
"I wasn't paying a lot of attention, but I heard her mutter something like: "From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes. I waited ages to see you there. I search the party of better bodies, just to learn that you never cared. You're on your own kid. You always have been." Daphne mumbles quickly.
I look at the boys and that they all have the same expression as me, confusion and disappointment.
"But anyway, is she still crying?" Theodore asks.
"No? I don't think so." Pansy replied with hesitation.
"Does she still want to be alone?" Mattheo questions as he leaned back on his chair.
"I don't think so..." Daphne started but before she could finish, me and the boys were out of the room on the way to see Isa.
