(Mattheo's POV)
Instead of saying no to Isa's request, Black threw me under the bus, forcing me to join them on a double date.
I'd had feelings for Isa since the end of last year, but I knew she didn't feel the same way. The boys were always trying to set us up, but Isa just laughed it off. I put on a brave face, pretending it didn't bother me, but deep down, I was nervous.
As we walked to the girls' dorm, Regulus broke the silence. "You nervous? Finally going on a date with your dream girl. You should thank me."
"Yeah, right. I'll thank you for forcing me to come." I hissed.
"You've had a crush on her for a year; it's about time that you go out with her." Regulus teased.
"Regulus, she doesn't like me back. I can't force her to date me." I sighed.
"I know. But you can convince her to be with you. You just gotta use your charm." He said this so casually, as if I never spent nights crying over her.
"It's not that simple."
"Is THE Mattheo Riddle worried about a girl? What happened to the guy who can get any girl? The guy that all ladies simp over?" He laughed.
"Fuck off! Now shut up; we're here." I snarled.
Regulus knocked on the door, and Stephanie opened it. She looked decent. Regulus flashed a charming smile and took her hand. "Where's Isa?" I asked.
"She's coming." A few seconds later, Isa walked out into the hallway in a stunning velvet dress that brought out her green eyes. "You look great, Princess." I smiled.
"Thanks" she said sweetly.
As we walked to the restaurant, Isa whispered, "You look really nice today."
"What, does that mean I always look ugly but today I got lucky?" I teased.
"Shut up." She laughed.
After dinner, Regulus and Stephanie left, and Isa suggested we take a walk around the castle. As we strolled, the stars twinkling above, I felt a sense of hope.
"Now that we're alone, you can tell me what is actually wrong?" She asked me.
"I don't feel like you're yourself anymore," I told her.
"What do you mean?"
"You're not acting like yourself ever since your father passed. I just miss the real you."
"It just left an emotional scar."
"I know, but—" She cut me off.
"Can we not talk about this, please?"
I nodded slightly.
"Yeah, of course. I just missed you."
Isa took a step closer and wrapped her arms around me. "I missed us. Just us two. No one else." She smiled as she let go.
As we continued our walk, the rain started pouring down. Isa dragged me onto the street, and we twirled in the rain. Her mascara was running, and her hair was soaked, but she didn't care. Neither did I.
I took her hand and pulled her closer. We were chest to chest, our faces inches apart. I brushed her hair out of her face, and she smiled up at me, panting.
I leaned down, and our lips were millimeters apart. Before I knew it, I gently grabbed her jaw and pressed my lips against hers.
I quickly pulled apart, realizing what I did. She had a shocked look on her face, like she didn't know what to say.
"Isa...I'm sorry. I don't know what got over me."
Instead of replying, she just shook her head. She didn't look mortified, but she looked surprised.
I couldn't deal with the pressure, so I turned around and walked back to the castle.
God, Mattheo! Why are you so fucking dumb?! You just ruined one of your best friendships!
As soon as Isa was out of sight, I started running back to my room. I slammed the door shut and sat on my bed.
"What's wrong?" Theo asked me.
"I kissed Isa." I blurted out.
All the boys except my brother cheered and jumped up and down.
"Then why are you so fucking down?" Enzo questioned.
"Because I just ruined our friendship! Now she knows that I like her more than a friend! Fuck!" I shouted, punching the wall.
"Mate, you fucked up." Five muttered.
"Yeah, no shit, Hargreeves!" I hissed at him before heading to the bathroom.
