The next morning everyone on the train woke up bright and early to get their day started. Scarlett managed to at least get in a couple of hours of sleep before the sun came up after a long night of twisting and turning. Her head was everywhere and she hated it. Her brother had stayed clear of her and gave her time to process what was happening. He knew that when she felt better she would reach out to him therefore he simply gave her time and space.
Scarlett, Mason, and Alexander all sat at the table enjoying a warm breakfast, while Nina sat in the common area. Mason was starting to have a sweet tooth after trying all the sweet donuts placed on a rack in the center of the table. They were discussing the games and things that could help them survive.
"The first thing is first... We need to get people to like you two. You'll need sponsors so that when you find yourself in a hassle you can somehow be saved." Alexander stated as he took a bite of his favorite omelette.
"Okay and how do we do that?" Mason questioned as he himself continued to eat his breakfast which consisted of donuts and milk.
"Well you two are off to a good start. Your reaping reactions have somehow stood out in the Capitol. You two reacted like Careers therefore many people have started to take interest in you two." Alexander said as he caught sight of Scarlett who hadn't said a word and was simply taking everything in.
"Eyes are also on her for being your sister." Mason stated getting everyone to freeze and simply look at the young girl who inhaled and placed her eating utensils over her plate.
"Is there any way that could bring us conflict?" Scarlett questioned as she gave her brother her undivided attention without giving any thought to those around her.
"Well the relative of a victor hasn't been reaped into the games in a really long time. Therefore I have no idea how the tributes may react." Alexander said getting Scarlett to nod slowly as she took the response in.
"Listen... The next couple of days will be preparation for the games. You'll be groomed upon your arrival and you'll meet with your stylist whose in charge of every look you wear out into the public's eye." Alexander explained as Mason took notice of how they had reached The Capitol.
He quickly stood up and walked over to the window to get a clear view of the city. It was even better looking then he had imagined. He could decipher every little detail about it that came from each district. Soon the city went out of view as they had entered a dark tunnel. Scarlett looked to her brother who simply nodded letting her know they had arrived.
When they finally reached the end of the tunnel they could heard the crowd cheering for them letting them know that the train had slowed down. This sparked interest in Scarlett as she stood up and made her way over to the window. She saw all the different capitol faces. Ranging from kids all the way up to elderly folks.
They were cheering as if in a way celebrating the prey that was being put up to feed the predator. As if they were looking at the mice that was about to be tossed into the serpents den. It was sickening to Scarlett, seeing how people could seem to enjoy the games and witness willingly the killings of innocent kids.
"This is crazy." Mason stated as the two looked out of the small window.
"Welcome to The Capitol." Nina said from her position on one of the couches in the common area as she touched up her makeup.
