The morning sun cast a warm glow over the rooftop as Venti and Xiao stepped out, books in hand, hoping for a little break before class. They spotted Childe and Scaramouche already there, both leaning against opposite railings, staring off in different directions with a silence that practically had its own gravity. It wasn't the comfortable kind of silence; it was the type you could trip over.

"Uh... did something happen here?" Xiao muttered to Venti, raising an eyebrow as he nudged his friend with his elbow.

Venti, his keen eye already analyzing the scene, chuckled. "Oh, this has 'couple's quarrel' written all over it." He lowered his voice conspiratorially, shooting a mischievous glance at Xiao. "It's like they're giving us major 'old married couple' vibes, don't you think?"

Xiao tried to stifle a snicker, though the corners of his mouth betrayed him, quirking up in a smirk. "Yeah, honestly," he said, leaning in a little closer to Venti. "Look at them. All serious and moody, like they're about to break out into a group therapy session."

Just then, Scaramouche narrowed his eyes, catching sight of their quiet laughter. "What's with the two of you?" he said, his voice sharp but carrying a hint of curiosity. "What are you whispering about over there?"

Childe glanced over, clearly frustrated but trying to keep his cool. "Yeah, care to share with the rest of the class?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing," Venti replied, waving his hand dramatically. "Xiao and I were just... observing. That's all."

"Observing what, exactly?" Scaramouche crossed his arms, looking like he was ready to grill them.

"Oh, you know," Venti shrugged, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Just watching a pair of best friends who can't seem to stand each other suddenly. Not exactly subtle, you two."

Childe rolled his eyes, trying to shrug it off. "Oh, please, we're fine. Right, Scara?"

Scaramouche shot him a side-eye, still leaning on his railing. "Sure," he replied, tone heavy with sarcasm. "Just peachy."

Xiao snickered again, leaning into Venti. "They're so bad at hiding this. It's painfully obvious," he murmured, nudging him.

"Honestly, Xiao," Venti whispered back. "You'd think they'd at least try to mask their 'lovers' quarrel.'"

Childe, overhearing just enough, squinted in confusion. "Lovers' quarrel? Who exactly are you two talking about?"

"Oh, you know..." Venti flashed an innocent smile, darting a sly glance at Xiao. "Just a couple of people we know who look like they're avoiding talking about their feelings. Definitely not naming names."

Scaramouche groaned. "I swear, Venti, you've got a loose screw or something. We're just here, talking like normal people."

"Right, right," Venti replied with a knowing nod. "Because it's super normal to stand five feet apart and act like the other doesn't exist."

Childe, desperate to avoid letting anything slip, crossed his arms, his expression trying to mask the slight flush creeping up his cheeks. "...Yeah, well, some people just don't like other people prying into their conversations."

Xiao leaned in toward Venti, clearly amused. "They're really committed to this whole 'nothing's wrong' act, huh?"

"It's impressive, honestly," Venti replied, mock admiration in his voice. "Almost makes you think they're hiding a big, dramatic secret. Like... maybe feelings ?"
