"RICH FAMILIES"
Jungkook sat at his desk, the dim light from his lamp casting long shadows across the room. His fingers drummed against the wooden surface, his mind racing with thoughts of the case.
Kairan's arrest had been the first step, but Jungkook knew the hard part was still ahead.
Kairan wasn't just any ordinary criminal—he came from a powerful, wealthy family, and that made him a serious threat.
Jungkook had no illusions about how easily Kairan could get out of prison. With the right connections, it could all be over before they even had a chance to build a case.
His mind flashed back to the fiery confrontation in the prison, Kairan's arrogant sneer, his attempts to provoke him.
Jungkook had wanted to crush him then, wanted to make him feel the weight of his crimes, but he couldn't afford to let his emotions get the better of him. The real fight was in the courtroom, not in that cell.
He stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor as he walked over to the window. The city outside seemed so far away, as if there was a world between him and the chaos of the case.
As he paced the room, his thoughts turned to the people who had been affected by Kairan's actions. The victims. The families.
-Alessia. She had been so desperate to believe in Kairan's innocence, so willing to fight for him, even though the truth was staring them all in the face. It was almost too easy for Kairan to manipulate her.
The sound of his phone vibrating on the table broke his train of thought. He walked over and picked it up, his eyes immediately narrowing as he saw the name on the screen.
It was one of his contacts from the department, and Jungkook knew that if he was calling now, it was urgent.
"Jungkook," the voice on the other end said, "we've got a problem. Kairan's family is already pulling strings. They've got a lawyer coming in, and they're looking for ways to get him out."
Jungkook's jaw clenched. "I knew this was coming," he muttered. "What's their plan?"
"They're pushing for bail. They've got the money, the influence. It's going to be hard to keep him locked up without solid evidence."
Jungkook's grip on the phone tightened. He wasn't going to let this happen. "Get me everything you have. I need everything on Kairan's family, his connections, his finances—whatever it takes."
There was a pause on the other end. "You're going after his family too?"
"I'm doing whatever it takes to keep him inside," Jungkook replied, his voice cold and determined.
"I don't care what it costs. I'll bring the full weight of this case down on him, and if that means going after his family, so be it. We're not letting him walk free."
The voice on the other end of the line hesitated before responding. "Alright. I'll get you what you need."
Jungkook hung up, his mind now set on the path ahead. He wasn't going to let Kairan slip through his fingers. Not now, not ever. With every resource at his disposal, he was going to make sure Kairan paid for what he'd done.
He walked over to his desk, grabbing the files on the case. He would need to go over everything—every detail, every piece of evidence.
With a deep breath, Jungkook sat down and began to work.
The fight for Kairan's freedom had only just begun, and Jungkook was more than ready to do whatever it took to make sure that he stayed exactly where he belonged—behind bars.
