Jennie Ruby Jane Kim POV
"Jen, sweetie , wake up. You might be late for your rehearsal," I woke up to the sound of knocking at my door.
I groaned, reluctantly getting up to stretch. I started fixing my bed, though my body still felt heavy with sleep. Rubbing my eyes while yawning, I tried to shake off the sluggishness.
"Come down soon, sweetie. Your girlfriend is already here," Nanay Tine voice cut through my yawn.
I rolled my eyes. Great. What a wonderful way to start my morning cue sarcasm.
Glancing at the clock, I saw it was only 7:15 AM. Thankfully, I still had enough time to prepare. Our call time wasn’t until 9 AM, so I could have slept a little longer, but I didn’t want to miss breakfast—no thanks to the “intruder” downstairs.
I moved quickly, going through my morning routine. As I descended the stairs, the delicious aroma of breakfast hit me, making my stomach growl.
"Good morning, Nay!" I greeted Nanay Tine, giving her a kiss on the cheek before pulling out a chair to sit down.
"Good morning too, sweetie. Won’t you greet your girlfriend as well?" she teased with a smile.
I secretly rolled my eyes. Of course, the “intruder” was enjoying this moment, grinning from ear to ear.
I forced a sweet—but obviously fake—smile. "Good morning, intruder—I mean, Lisa."
She smirked mischievously. "Good morning too, my headache—I mean, my lovely girlfriend."
Nanay Tine chuckled. "Oh, enough of your bickering. Eat up so you won’t be late. If you need anything, just call me from the kitchen," she said before leaving us alone.
I shot Lisa a death glare. "There’s nothing good about this morning if I have to see you."
She wiped her mouth with a napkin before replying casually, "Well, nothing you can do about it. I’m your girlfriend, and soon be your wife. You’re stuck with me forever."
I rolled my eyes again and threw a tissue at her. "Can you just vanish from my sight? My blood boils every time I see you."
She shrugged, unfazed. "Can you just shut up and eat? You’re going to be late if you keep talking."
I ignored her, eating quickly so I wouldn’t have to spend any more time with her.
After finishing my meal, Lisa spoke nonchalantly, "Once you’re ready, we’ll leave together. I’ll drive you to your shoot."
My eyes widened in disbelief. "What?! No way!"
"Yes way."
"I said no! I won’t allow it." What does she think this is, her lucky day?
"Yes, you will. There’s no harm in dropping my wife off at her workplace, is there? I already compromised on the separate bedrooms, so now it’s my turn to ask for something," she replied, her brow furrowed in irritation.
"And what will people say if they see us together? I just managed to clear up those rumors, and then—"
I flinched as she slammed the table, standing up abruptly. "You’re coming with me whether you like it or not. End of discussion!" she said firmly before walking out of the room.
I clenched my fists. That woman is infuriating!
I hurried to my room to get ready. I made sure to pack everything I needed for the shoot in my bag.
Today's rehearsal was for a Victoria fashion show airing next week. I just asked my manager to cancel my photoshoot schedule last week, as I wanted a little break after wrapping up this one.
I checked myself in the mirror one last time. My outfit reflected my vibrant energy for the day: a shimmering sequined red top paired with a flowing emerald green A-line skirt. Bold accessories and sleek heels completed the look, giving me a confidence boost.
As I descended the stairs, I saw Lisa sitting on the couch, casually reading a book. She looked up when she heard me, her sharp features amplified by the glasses she was wearing.
My heart skipped a beat. Why was it beating like crazy? Like a barking dog?
She stood and walked toward me. "You ready? Let’s go, or you’ll be late," she said coolly, her hands in her pockets.
I nodded silently, letting her lead me to her car. To my surprise, she opened the car door for me.
As the car started moving, we sat in silence. I looked out the window, trying to ignore her presence. My heart was still racing, and I hated how she made me feel.
We arrived at the set, and I was about to step out when she grabbed my wrist.
"Are you forgetting something?" she asked seriously.
I frowned, confused. "No, I have everything in my bag."
"If you don’t have anything to say, I better—"
Before I could finish, she leaned in and kissed me—a passionate, breathtaking kiss. To my surprise, I found myself kissing her back, caught up in the moment.
She broke the kiss as we both caught our breath, but I wasn’t done. My hands moved instinctively, pulling her back for another kiss.
Her phone rang, snapping us out of it. "Dammit," she muttered under her breath.
"You better go, darling, or you’ll be late. I’ll pick you up later. Be safe," she said, kissing my forehead before stealing another quick kiss.
I nodded numbly, stepping out of the car. As her car drove away, I realized I was still standing there, touching my lips, when my manager approached me.
"Jen, why are you still out here? And why are you holding your lips?" she asked, puzzled.
"Huh? I-I what?" I stammered, completely flustered.
"Come on, let’s go. The show starts in 10 minutes," she said, walking inside.
I followed her silently. What just happened? Did we just kiss? Oh my God!
Vote. :))
