Gojo rushed at Vergil with quick, calculated steps, closing the distance between them in an instant. He launched a flurry of punches and kicks, each strike aimed at throwing Vergil off balance. Though Vergil managed to parry most of the attacks, Gojo's relentless speed eventually forced him to take a step back.
Gojo smirked, sensing his opportunity. "Let's end this," he muttered, summoning the last reserves of his energy. He activated Blue one final time, intending to pull Vergil into an inescapable implosion. The gravitational field began to warp the space around them, creating a powerful pull.
But just as Gojo thought he had gained the upper hand, Vergil vanished in a blur of motion. In the blink of an eye, he reappeared behind Gojo, the gleaming blade of Yamato poised at his throat. Time seemed to slow as Gojo realized the precariousness of his situation.
Then, in a stroke of luck—or perhaps fate—the minute expired. Gojo's Infinity Barrier regenerated just as the katana was about to make contact. A faint shimmer rippled through the air, halting Vergil's blade mere millimeters from Gojo's neck.
Gojo exhaled, his confidence flickering but not extinguished. He knew the barrier's regeneration was a double-edged sword. If Vergil realized the timing flaw, the next strike would be fatal.
As Vergil prepared to unleash another attack, a deafening explosion tore through the chamber. One of the walls collapsed in a cascade of rubble, and Geto and Camellya stepped through the chaos.
"Nice entrance," Gojo quipped, though his tone lacked its usual lightness.
Geto's gaze swept over the room, quickly assessing the situation. He noticed Gojo's tense posture and the faint crackle of energy around Vergil. Without hesitation, he tore open a large gash on his arm, summoning a swarm of chaos creatures. Unlike before, these creatures were entirely under his control.
The horde poured into the room, encircling Vergil. Geto approached Gojo, keeping his voice low but steady. "What's going on here?"
"That guy's on the side of chaos," Gojo replied, his eyes fixed on Vergil. "And he's definitely special grade."
Geto frowned. "So, it's going to be tough to deal with."
Before they could plan further, a loud, guttural roar filled the chamber. Vergil's form began to shift, his body engulfed in dark energy. His features twisted as he transformed into his demon form, the air around him growing heavy with malevolence.
The chaos creatures Geto had summoned began to dissolve, their forms melting away as Vergil's aura consumed them. Seeing this, Camellya lunged forward without hesitation. Her spinning blades whirred to life, forming a wall of deadly steel as she charged at Vergil.
But Vergil was faster. He slipped through the gaps in her blades—spinning at what seemed to be an impossible thousand revolutions per second—and delivered a sharp slash that sent her stumbling back.
Vergil didn't stop. In a flash, he turned his attention to Geto, moving with superhuman speed. Geto reacted instantly, summoning a massive troll-like cursed spirit as a barricade. The creature roared, planting itself firmly between Vergil and its master.
It wasn't enough. With a single, precise slash, Vergil pierced the troll's heart, cutting through its massive form like it was paper. The troll collapsed, disintegrating into mist, and Vergil surged forward, now mere moments away from striking Geto.
Gojo stepped in at the last second, blocking Vergil's path with a blast of Blue. The force of the technique pushed Vergil back, momentarily halting his advance.
"I liked your motivation." Vergil admitted, brushing the dust from his shoulder. His tone was almost mocking, but there was a flicker of respect in his eyes.
The three chaos hunters regrouped, their movements synchronized despite the tension. Camellya, still catching her breath, tightened her grip on her spinning blades. Geto summoned another cursed spirit, a massive colossus armed with a spiked club, while Gojo steadied himself, his energy focused.
As he raised his Yamato, preparing for another devastating attack, the trio launched their counteroffensive. Camellya struck first, her blades forming a vortex that forced Vergil to evade. Geto's colossus followed, swinging its club in a wide arc that shattered the ground beneath them. Gojo used the chaos to unleash another burst of Blue, aiming to trap Vergil in its pull.
Despite their combined efforts, Vergil danced through their attacks with inhuman grace.
However, by the time the relentless attack began to take effect, half of the room had already vanished. A great chasm had formed between Vergil and the trio.
Vergil, katana gleamed with dark energy as he pointed it at them. "This isn't over," he said, his voice echoing with finality. "You're strong, but chaos always prevails."
With a final glare, Vergil vanished into the shadows, leaving the chamber eerily silent.
The trio stood amidst the rubble, their breaths heavy but steady.
"Looks like we scared him off." Camellya said with a smirk, though her voice carried a hint of exhaustion.
Geto shook his head. "No. He'll be back, and he'll be stronger."
Gojo seemed to need rest. "Then we'll just have to be ready."
Geto answered with a determined voice. "You're right, but we need to regroup now. Let's go back.."
Thus, our senior students had withdrawn, their usual bravado replaced by a wary silence. The sighting of Vergil in Huanglong sent ripples of concern throughout the academy, stirring whispers that refused to settle.
The administrators were left grappling with countless questions. Why had Vergil, a figure long relegated to legend and hearsay, emerged now? What did his connection to chaos signify for their already fragile balance? These uncertainties loomed large, overshadowing every discussion.
It was clear that the situation demanded action. The joint captains, known for their decisive leadership, called for an emergency meeting. Representatives from every division were summoned to participate, their roles pivotal in determining the next course of action.
