Rose's phone rang, as she and Adam ran up another flight of stairs. "This isn't the best time," she said, while answering it.

"Where are you?" the doctor questioned.

"Level 49."

"You've got to keep moving. The vault is being sealed off, up at level forty-six." he replied.

"Can't you, stop them closing?" Rose asked him.

"I'm the one closing them. I can't wait, and I can't help you. Now for god's sake, run." the doctor said. Rose relayed the message to Adam, and they ran faster up the stairs.

Rose was falling behind, with Adam in front of her, "Come on." Adam yelled at her, seeing the bulkhead beginning to lower. Adam pushed himself to run faster, and managed to get under, but Rose wasn't as lucky. She reached the door, as it closed.

"Rose? Did you make it?" the doctor sounded over her phone. Rose frowned as she answered, "Adam did..." Hearing those words, broke his hearts, and shock spread through his body.

—-------------------------------------------------------------

Rose leaned against the cold metal of the bulkhead. Was this how she was going to die? She didn't even get to say goodbye to her mum.

"Rose? Are you there?" the doctor asked over the intercom.

"I'm here, I'm sorry I was a bit slow."

"Don't worry, I'll get you out of there." he promised her.

"Don't make promises like that. It's not your fault. Don't think that it ever was. Goodbye doctor." Rose said with a sadden look in her eye. On the intercom, you could see a tear make its way down the doctor's face. This was all his fault.

Rose turned from the bulkhead, and watched as the dalek approached her.

"Exterminate."

With that, the doctor ripped the earpiece out, as he heard the sound of the daleks weapon being fired. "I killed her..." he whispered, he felt his hearts shatter to pieces. He killed his companion. She was gone.

"It was the prize of my collection! At least I still have her." Van Statten said, not showing the least bit of remorse forn Rose.

At this he grew furious. How dare Van Statten say such things?! "Your Collection? But was it worth it? Worth all those men's deaths? Worth her's? Let me tell you something, Van Statten. Mankind goes to space to explore, to be a part of something greater."

"Exactly!" Van Stattent stated cutting in, "I wanted to touch the stars!"

"You just want to drag the stars underground and stick them underneath tons of sand and label them. You're about as far from stars as you can be! You took her down with you... she was only 19" the doctor rebutted. Then he turned and pointed at the woman in the chair, "And 'she' will never be a part of your collection again. She is a living breathing thing. Over my dead body, will she ever be yours again." he said with so much fury in his voice. But what shocked him the most, was the pale green eyes, staring into his, when he turned to look at her.

—---------------------------

Rose opened her eyes and looked around. She was still alive? She stared at the dalek in front of her, the one she touched in the cage. "Go on then, kill me." she told the dalek. She was met with silence though. "Why are you doing this?" she asked it.

"I am armed. I will kill. It is my purpose."

"So what are you waiting for?"

"I can feel your fear Rose Tyler." It replied. This made her confused. How could it? Then she remembered, she touched the dalek.
