Chapter 3: Regrouping and Reckoning
Inside Sandy’s house, the survivors were huddled around the table, the weight of what had just happened pressing heavily on them. The only sound was the occasional thud as zombies continued to batter against the metal walls of Sandy’s dome, but for now, they were safe.
SpongeBob, still in his gas mask, looked around nervously. "Are we really safe in here?" he asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Sandy nodded grimly, though her eyes were full of concern. "For now, yes. But that doesn't mean we’re out of the woods. We need to figure out what’s going on, and fast."
Plankton, sitting quietly in his mech suit, was clearly struggling with guilt. His tiny hands shook as he adjusted the controls. "I didn’t mean for any of this to happen," he muttered, barely looking up. "It was just supposed to be a poison to take down Krabs... not... not this."
Mr. Krabs scowled, still clutching his money bag tightly as if it could somehow protect him from the situation. “A poison, eh? That's what this mess is about? You nearly killed us all with your greed, Plankton.”
"Now, hold on, Krabs!" Squidward snapped, pushing his mask up on his face. "We don’t have time for this. Can we focus on figuring out what’s happening? We’re in enough trouble without throwing blame around."
Sandy stood up, her face stern. "Squidward’s right. We need to put our differences aside and think straight. We’re all in this together now."
Plankton looked down at the ground, still ashamed. "It started with a plan to make a new poison. I thought if I could just make a better formula than Krabs, I’d finally defeat him. But then... Karen walked in. She tried to stop me from finishing the formula, but when she bumped into the table, she knocked over a container of Aqua-X Sodium into the mixture..."
Sandy crossed her arms, her expression hardening. "That’s when the chemical reaction happened. The Aqua-X Sodium combined with the rest of the poison and created that toxic gas. It's the reason the infection spread so quickly."
SpongeBob blinked in disbelief. "Wait, Karen—Plankton's wife? She tried to stop the poison and caused the explosion?"
Plankton nodded sadly. "Yes... She was trying to prevent me from making a mistake, and in doing so, she caused something worse."
"So this whole thing is because of your stupid revenge plot?" Mr. Krabs barked. "We’re trapped, all because you wanted to get back at me? You're lucky I don't toss you outta here right now!"
Sandy raised her hand, signaling for quiet. "Listen, Krabs, I get it. We’re all angry. But right now, we need to survive, not point fingers." She paused, gathering her thoughts. "The gas has mutated everyone it’s touched into... something else. The ones we saw outside—their bodies and minds are changing. They’re not just sick. They’re becoming violent and mindless... zombies.”
Squidward groaned, slumping back in his seat. "Great. Zombies. That’s just what we needed today."
Sandy continued, her voice serious. "The gas doesn’t just infect their minds; it alters their bodies, too. These things aren't just going to walk away. They’re going to keep coming for us, and for anyone else still alive out there."
SpongeBob stood up, determination in his eyes. “So what do we do? We can’t just wait here for them to break in.”
Plankton, still wracked with guilt, looked up at Sandy. "Is there... is there any way to fix this? Can we stop the infection?"
Sandy nodded slowly. “There’s a chance. I have some equipment in my lab that could make an antidote, but it’s going to take specific ingredients. And they’re scattered all over Bikini Bottom. We’re going to have to go out there and gather them.”
Squidward threw his hands up in frustration. “Oh, great. Now we have to go out there, in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, to gather ingredients for some ‘antidote.’ What could go wrong?”
“It won’t be easy,” Sandy admitted, “but it’s our only shot. If we don’t stop the infection now, it’ll spread even faster, and then we won’t have a chance.”
Mr. Krabs, finally putting down his money bag, stood up with a grim expression. “Fine. I’ll help. But I don’t like it.”
SpongeBob’s eyes lit up with hope. “We can do this! I know we can!”
Plankton hesitated, guilt still gnawing at him. “I’m sorry, everyone. I’ve made a huge mistake, and now I’ve got to fix it.”
Sandy glanced at the group, her gaze hardening. “Alright, team. This is just the beginning. The antidote is our priority. We’ll have to stick together, watch each other’s backs, and be ready for anything.”
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed from the outside, followed by more thuds as the zombies pounded against the metal walls of Sandy’s house.
“That’s our cue,” Sandy said, grabbing her helmet. “We don’t have much time before they break through. Let’s move.”
Sandy led the way as the others followed, slipping on their helmets and preparing to face the unknown. Outside, the chaos was only getting worse, and every step they took felt like it might be their last. The world they knew had changed, and it was up to them to stop it before it was too late.Sandy led the group to the tree house in the dome she Led them down stairs and the group sees the hatch they go in the jatch preparing for whatever horrors are on the other side.
