The morning started like any other. Jax stood in the kitchen, humming softly as he prepared breakfast, while Riley leaned against the counter, sipping her coffee and scrolling through her phone.
"You're unusually cheerful today," Riley noted, watching Jax dance around the kitchen.
"I'm just happy," Jax replied with a smile, placing a plate of eggs and toast in front of her. "We have a good life, don't we?"
Riley smirked, pulling him closer. "The best."
But beneath Jax's cheerful exterior, he'd been feeling... off. For weeks, he'd been unusually tired, his appetite fluctuating, and emotions running higher than usual. He brushed it off as stress from work and the wedding aftermath, but now he wasn't so sure.
A Visit to the Doctor
It was Mia who finally convinced him to see a doctor. "You've been looking pale, and you're not yourself," she insisted during a lunch date. "It's better to get checked out, just in case."
Reluctantly, Jax scheduled an appointment. He didn't mention it to Riley, not wanting to worry her unnecessarily.
The day of the appointment, Jax sat nervously in the examination room, fiddling with his hands. When the doctor returned with the results, their expression was a mixture of surprise and excitement.
"Well, Jax, I have some news," the doctor began. "You're pregnant."
Jax's jaw dropped. "Pregnant?"
The doctor nodded, smiling. "It's rare for male omegas, but it's entirely possible. Congratulations!"
Jax's mind raced. He hadn't even considered this possibility. Excitement, fear, and disbelief all swirled within him.
Breaking the News
That evening, Jax paced the living room, rehearsing how to tell Riley. When she walked through the door, looking exhausted but radiant as always, Jax froze.
"Hey, love," Riley greeted, dropping her bag on the couch. "Everything okay? You're jittery."
"I, uh... I need to tell you something," Jax began, his voice trembling.
Riley's brows furrowed as she approached him. "You're scaring me. What's going on?"
Jax took a deep breath, holding her hands. "I went to the doctor today, and... I'm pregnant."
For a moment, Riley just stared at him, her expression unreadable. Then, a wide grin broke across her face. "Pregnant? Jax, are you serious?"
Jax nodded, tears welling in his eyes. "I know it's unexpected, and it's okay if you're not ready—"
Riley silenced him with a kiss, pulling him into a tight embrace. "Not ready? Jax, this is amazing! You're amazing! We're going to have a baby."
Jax let out a laugh, relief washing over him. "You're really okay with this?"
"More than okay," Riley assured him, her voice filled with wonder. "You and I are going to be the best parents ever."
Adjusting to the News
The following weeks were a whirlwind of preparation. Riley became fiercely protective, insisting Jax rest and avoid stress.
"I'm pregnant, not fragile," Jax argued one afternoon when Riley tried to carry all the groceries herself.
"Pregnant and perfect," Riley retorted, grinning. "Now sit down, Mr. Everett-Slade."
They spent their evenings researching baby names, debating nursery designs, and imagining what their little one would be like.
"I hope they have your sass," Riley joked one night.
"And your stubbornness," Jax countered.
Sharing the Joy
When they shared the news with their friends and family, the reactions were priceless. Mia screamed in excitement, Noah nearly dropped his drink, and Ethan simply hugged Jax, whispering, "I'm so happy for you."
Even Riley's parents, despite their complicated relationship, sent a heartfelt note of congratulations.
A New Chapter Begins
As Jax's pregnancy progressed, Riley found herself falling even more in love with him. Watching him nurture their child filled her with a sense of awe and gratitude.
"You're incredible," she told him one night as they lay in bed, her hand resting on his small but growing bump.
Jax smiled, his eyes glistening. "We're incredible, Riley. This baby is going to be so loved."
