"Ryujin? What is happen—" Jeonggeui froze mid-sentence, her eyes locking onto Yeji.

Tears streamed down Yeji's face, her expression a mixture of pain and quiet devastation.

Ryujin stiffened, her body tense as her gaze darted between Yeji and Winter.

Anger flickered in Ryujin's eyes, not toward Jeonggeui but toward Winter, whose truth-telling had caused everything to reveal.

Yeji stepped forward, her movements deliberate and heavy with emotion.

The silence was deafening as she stared at Ryujin, then shifted her focus to Jeonggeui.

"Yeji, it's not what you think," Ryujin started, her voice desperate, hands trembling slightly.

Yeji's face remained unreadable, her tears falling silently.

She didn't interrupt but didn't offer any acknowledgment either.

"I can explain," Ryujin continued, stepping closer, her tone pleading.

"Jeonggeui is my boss. What you saw—it's not like that. I swear, Yeji."

"Okay," Yeji said quietly, her voice steady but devoid of any emotion.

Jeonggeui's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. "That's it? 'Okay?' Are you not angry at all?" she asked.

Yeji turned to her, her gaze sharp and cutting.

"What? Do you expect me to shout here? To make a scene? To slap you?" Yeji's voice was calm, yet there was an icy edge that sent shivers down Jeonggeui's spine.

"I won't do that," Yeji scoffed. "That would be too low if I did." Yeji paused, taking a deep breath before continuing.

"Besides, I wouldn't slap you. I don't want my hands to get dirty from touching your face."

Jeonggeui's mouth fell open, her cheeks flushing with annoyance. She opened her mouth to retort, but Yeji had already turned her attention to Ryujin.

"And you,"

Yeji said, her voice laced with quiet resolve.

She reached for the engagement ring on her finger and slowly slid it off.

Lifting it to Ryujin's eye level, she spoke, her words deliberate and precise.

"I told you that I love gold rings. But you gave me a fucking silver ring instead." Yeji's tone was cool, detached, her emotions locked away.

Ryujin flinched at the words, her eyes widening.

"Let's call off the engagement," Yeji declared, her voice calm but firm.

Without waiting for a response, she tossed the ring at Ryujin's face. The small metal band clinked against Ryujin's cheek before falling to the floor with a dull sound.

The room fell silent, the tension thick and suffocating. Jeonggeui glanced between the two women, stunned into silence.

Yeji straightened her posture, her face unreadable once again.

Without another word, she turned and walked away, her steps echoing against the restaurant floor.

Ryujin stood frozen, the weight of Yeji's words and actions crashing down on her.

"Winter, why did you do that? I trusted you!" Ryujin's voice was sharp, trembling with frustration.

Winter let out a dry chuckle, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Are you seriously angry at me for revealing the truth to your fiancée?" Winter snapped, her gaze briefly darting to Jeonggeui as she emphasized the word fiancée.
