Tango POV
As we continued driving into the city, the streets became busier, the noise louder. The hustle and bustle of the city was overwhelming. Impulse's usual calm driving demeanor seemed a bit more tense, and I could hear him muttering under his breath, avoiding the chaos that swarmed us. The horns honked, people were shouting, and the lights from every direction seemed like they were constantly flashing.
I didn't even notice how much the noise and movement was affecting Zedaph at first. I was lost in my thoughts, watching the city streets blur by. It wasn't until I felt his hand grip my arm tightly that I snapped out of my reverie. His fingers were trembling slightly, and his usual wide-eyed curiosity was replaced with a kind of strained focus, his body rigid beside me.
I glanced over at him, immediately noticing the discomfort in his expression. His eyes darted around, flicking to the windows, the chaos outside, and then quickly averting back to the space in front of him, like he was trying to block it all out.
"Zedaph?" I asked softly, turning my body towards him so he could hear me over the noise of the city. "Hey, are you alright?"
He looked up at me, his pupils a little wide, and his breath seemed a bit quicker than usual. I could see him trying to focus, but the overwhelming sights and sounds seemed to be closing in on him.
"I... I'm fine," he said, though his voice trembled a little. "I'm just not used to... all of this. It's a lot."
He glanced back out the window, watching the flashing lights and crowds of people moving too quickly, the noise suffocating the air. It was clear he wasn't used to any of this, especially compared to the quiet beach and isolation we'd left behind.
I hesitated for a moment, then gently placed my hand on his. It wasn't much, but it felt like a grounding gesture-something to help him feel like there was a bit of stability in all this chaos. He tensed at first, but then relaxed, his grip loosening just a little.
"It's okay," I said quietly, trying to soothe him. "I know it's a lot. We'll get through this. You're not alone, alright?"
He nodded slowly, though the discomfort didn't fully leave his face. "It's just... so loud. I didn't expect it to be like this."
"I get it," I said. "This city can be pretty overwhelming. But we're almost there, I promise. It'll settle down soon."
His eyes shifted to me again, and there was a mix of appreciation and hesitation in his gaze. He seemed to trust me, but the environment around him was still too foreign.
"I'll stick with you," I added, squeezing his hand lightly. "Just focus on me, alright? Ignore everything else. We'll make it through."
Zedaph gave a small, grateful smile, and I could see his tension ease just a fraction. It wasn't much, but it was something. The city felt like it was pressing in on us from all sides, but we could navigate it together.
And as we continued on, the noise and chaos still swirling around us, I stayed by his side, knowing it would take time for him to adjust to all of this. But I was here for him-he wasn't alone in the storm.
I could feel the tension radiating off of Zedaph as the city noise continued to swirl around us, a storm of unfamiliarity that seemed to be taking its toll. His breaths were quick, and I could sense the anxiety building in him, threatening to overwhelm him. I didn't want him to spiral into a panic attack. The last thing he needed right now was to feel even more out of control.
So, I acted quickly, instinctively. I shifted closer to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders, pulling him just a little bit closer to me. He stiffened at first, his eyes wide as though he wasn't sure what was happening. But I kept my voice calm, reassuring, as I gently spoke.
