Ok so i needed to go back and edit some things to fix discrepancies as Y/N surname is Izumi, her subordinates will call her Captain Izumi but close friends out of mocking like Gin will say Captain Y/n and Urahara will also call her just Y/N small thing but eh i want everything accurate. Also I don't know how many chapters i am willing to write lol.
Gin's office was bathed in an eerie silver glow, the moonlight spilling through the shoji doors and painting pale streaks across the polished wooden floor. The quiet hum of the night seeped in, broken only by the occasional rustling of wind against the trees outside. Seated at his desk, Gin appeared relaxed, his chin resting on one hand as he shuffled through a few reports, though his ever-present grin carried an edge of anticipation.
A faint knock broke the silence. Gin didn't immediately respond, letting the moment linger until the door slid open hesitantly, revealing Himari. Her silhouette was framed by the moonlight, her timid posture even more pronounced in the quiet intimacy of the room. She stepped inside, clutching a folder to her chest as though it were a shield.
"Captain Ichimaru," she began, her voice soft but strained.
Gin leaned back in his chair, lacing his fingers together as he regarded her. "Himari, isn't it? What brings you here so late?"
She hesitated, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. The folder trembled slightly in her grasp, and she lowered her gaze to the floor. "I... I thought you should know. About what's been happening with the squad."
Gin's grin widened slightly, his head tilting to the side. "Oh? What exactly has been happening?"
Himari took a deep breath, as if summoning every ounce of courage she possessed, and stepped closer to his desk. "It's the symptoms, Captain. Fatigue, erratic reiatsu spikes, muscle tremors... and more recently, some of them have reported difficulty focusing and persistent headaches."
Her words hung in the air, and Gin's grin didn't falter, though his eyes sharpened imperceptibly. "That so?"
"They're pushing themselves too hard," she continued, her voice tinged with a mixture of frustration and worry. "At first, I thought it was just the pressure of training, but... it's not normal. Not like this. It doesn't add up."
Gin gestured for her to continue, his gaze never leaving her face. Himari hesitated again, her grip tightening on the folder. "I started asking questions. Quietly. And then I found out..." She trailed off, biting her lip as if uncertain how to proceed.
"Found out what?" Gin prompted, his tone light yet subtly commanding.
Himari exhaled shakily, setting the folder on his desk and opening it to reveal her notes—charts detailing symptoms, dates, and observations, each meticulously recorded. "Some of the squad members admitted to taking pills. They say it helps them stay alert, makes them stronger, more resilient. But... it's not natural. It's altering their reiatsu in ways that are unstable."
Gin's gaze flicked to the notes briefly before returning to her. "And where are they getting these pills?"
Himari hesitated, her hands trembling slightly. "There's... someone who comes by during their breaks. They don't know who he is—he keeps his face hidden. But he hands out the pills for free, and they take them without question."
Her voice grew quieter, almost a whisper. "I'm scared, Captain. I don't know what these pills are doing to them, but it's not good. And if it keeps going on, I'm afraid someone might get seriously hurt—or worse."
Gin leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on the desk and clasping his hands together. The smile on his face remained, but the atmosphere in the room seemed to shift, the air growing heavier. He regarded her for a long moment, his expression unreadable.
