GIANA

"I'll try, if she ain't passed out from drinking all night. It's all she ever does. Every. Single. Night. Like, I can't say that I know how she feels because I haven't let anyone get close to me, but that doesn't mean treat me like a colostomy. I'm your daughter for Christ's sake," I complained.

"I...know how you feel. I've always felt like the odd one out when it comes to my family. Sure we have fun and we do connect but it sometimes feels like I'm unheard. I don't like pondering that shit though."

"Well, ponder it. What happened? Who started it?" I asked, with a mouth full of food.

He sighed, "Yo, who the hell was in that kitchen yo!" I laughed a little. "I don't know. It could've started with my mother, it could've started with my father, shit it could've been my grandmother. I just know that it made me not feel welcomed as much. I was maybe five when my father and mother separated. I still see my father from time to time, it just doesn't feel the same."

"Why did they separate? If I can ask?"

He cracked open my can of Sprite and took a deep breath, "My mother caught him cheating on her...while he was supposed to be taking me to the mall. His dumb ass decided it was a grand idea to set up a meet with the bitch he had on the side, at the same time my mother would usually be there to get her nails done. I kinda feel like he did that shit on purpose."

"As far as your mother and grandmother?"

He took a gulp of his soda. "My mother looks at me and sees him, my grandmother looks at me and sees the hurt he put my mother through."

"Damn..."

"Same shit I said. All I know is, you better talk to ya muva!"

I know this was a minute ago but did he really lick his lips the way he did? Ugh! I don't know if it's the smoke or if I've been wanting to get to know him more since whenever, but he was starting to grow on me. I've known him for a good two years, I wanna say I met him some time after Ry'Nel found out that they were related, but didn't start feeling comfortable around him until a year later. It takes me a while to get acquainted with someone, plus, he wasn't always around.

Kas has brown eyes that stare into your soul and his skin is a rich caramel tone. He's five-foot-four, has dreads that come to the middle of his chest. He doesn't have any piercings but he has one tattoo on his shoulder that he rarely shows off, I think he forgets it's there at times. Speaking of which, he's a semi-muscular guy, his arms and legs are somewhat defined. I could stare at this man all day and not care.

I shook my head and took a hit of the blunt, "I'll try, again. I just don't know how to get her to sit and talk. It's like whenever we get on the topic of her and I's relationship, she becomes reluctant and no longer wants to talk."

"I understand. Maybe it's best that you and her don't pursue a relationship but at least try until you feel there's no point in trying," he said, taking the last bite of his food.

"Why are you this damn fine?" I asked unexpectedly, making him cough and blush at the same time.

"Wait huh? Shit," he coughed a little more and I giggled. "I don't know, shit, ask my muva or suntin'."

I could tell he was still trying to hide his blushes but I seen right through it. He's so cute when he does that, and I don't know what's up with his accent but damn! "I'm gonna go check on Ry'Nel, you coming or you staying up here?"

"I'ma stay up here and finish some of this blunt," he said giggling and looking at me with his conceivably closed eyes.

"A'ight. I'll be back. Save me some," I left the room, immediately making my way down the stairs to the living room.
