Beatrix:

Usually, Ethan would greet me with a 'Hi' when I walked into the classroom. But now, he doesn't seem to notice me, and I don't feel like bothering to say anything either. I decide to just leave things as they are. As I walk past, I catch Martha looking at me in an odd way. When our eyes meet, she smiles, then turns away to join the conversation she was having. There's something unsettling about the way she looked at me, though.

After our classes, we're meeting at the library. Today is the final day, and everything for our project is complete. Our work today will only take a few minutes—just a final review and a few adjustments.

"Hey!" Martha suddenly jumped in front of me as I reached the library. I stumbled, trying to catch my balance from how abruptly she appeared in my path.

"You startled me," I said, catching my breath.

               "Sorry about that," she shrugged.

"So, you're all already here. Let's go inside," I said, trying to walk past her, but she stepped in front of me, blocking my way.

"No, I mean, there's no need," she said with a smile.

What's she talking about?

"Huh?" I raised my eyebrows in confusion.

"Our project is finished, and we can handle the review and adjustments on our own. Honestly, you don't really fit into our group, so there's no need for you to stick around us anymore. You can just head back." She said this with a neutral expression and a matter-of-fact tone.

I stand there, rooted to the spot, my eyes searching Martha's face, trying to digest her words. My throat feels tight, and I struggle to swallow, as if the weight of her anger has lodged itself there.

"Hey, Martha... why are you talking like this?" My voice is tentative, uncertain. "Is something wrong?" I ask, unable to make sense of her sudden shift. The Martha I knew was always laughing and talking. But this... this wasn't her. What had happened to her? What has changed? The shift in her tone was like a punch to the gut. This wasn't the girl I had known for days.

She glared at me, her eyes sharp and unyielding. "Why are you acting like this? Like you don't understand what's going on?" she spat, her voice dripping with frustration.

I took a step back, my mind racing to catch up. "What... What is going on? I don't know what you're talking about," I stammered, my confusion deepening with each passing second.

She shook her head, her expression hardening. "Beatrix, just stay away from Ethan. Stay away from him."

I stare at her, my mind struggling to piece together the mess of her words. But before I can speak, she lashes out again, her voice sharp.
