One Year Later

I woke up to the soft morning light filling the room. Everything around me looked a little blurry, like the world hadn't fully woken up yet. I looked around—quiet, still. The room was empty.

I took a deep breath, letting the quiet settle in my chest, and slowly pushed myself onto my feet. With soft, tentative steps toward the door.

There, bathed in golden light, stood a figure — a person who seemed to glow with the gentle radiance of dawn itself. He was looking my way, his smile effortless and full of a quiet joy that made my heart stir.

I returned the smile as I approached, feeling a familiar comfort settle over me.

"Good morning, love," his voice whispered, soft and tender, ringing clear in my ear.

"Morning, dumb bunny," I replied, pulling him into a tight hug.

That person was Ethan. The fear of one day waking up without him—that fear of losing him and finding myself alone—still lingered, stubborn and cold. I couldn't make it disappear. But beneath it all, a quiet voice had begun to grow inside me, one that believed, no matter what, I would always see him like this: standing in the morning light, looking at me with that glowing, unwavering smile.
