CHAPTER 4
❦❦❦❦
"You will fall into the sleep of death and wake up in the dream of life."
❄⚡
Death was never the end.
Life was a dream. Death was sleep.
The sleep of eternal life.
I felt as if I had woken up from sleep, but I was aware that this was no simple sleep.
I was in a room with a white ceiling and cream-colored walls. It was just me and him in the room. He was standing in front of a dark table with needles and pills on it, looking at something. His back was to me. He was wearing a white apron.
He was so focused on his work that he didn't realize I was awake.
I took my eyes off him and turned around. I was wearing a loose black t-shirt and comfortable sweatpants. I had thick socks on my feet. A brown blanket was spread over me.
There was a white bandage on my left wrist.
What had happened to me?
My mind was full of complex thoughts. I seemed to have lost my sense of space and time, and the questions were clouding my confused mind even more.
"You finally woke up, beautiful."
Hearing his voice, I tore my eyes away from my hands and turned to him, his brown eyes staring at me. She had a small smile on her face.
When he took a few steps towards me and asked, "Do you hurt anywhere?" I shook my head from side to side.
Nothing hurt, but questions and possibilities were fighting in my mind. This battle was giving me a headache.
When I made a move to get out of bed, he said, "You need to rest, don't get out of bed." I lay down again.
I was already dizzy and couldn't get up even if I wanted to, it was better for me to rest a little.
When I turned to him and asked, "What is this place?" he widened his smile and said, "The basement of our house," emphasizing the word "our house.
What were we doing in the basement? I asked curiously:
"What basement are you talking about? What happened to me?"
After running his eyes over my hands for a while, he met my eyes again.
"Nothing important. It's just that you tried to commit suicide by slitting your wrists in the bathroom and I stopped you from doing it." I slowly started to remember what had happened.
The last time I tried to kill myself was in the bathroom and I couldn't remember anything after that.
Suddenly the sweet smile on Atlas's face looked disturbing. Not that he was happy, but he was smiling like he was about to have a nervous breakdown at any moment.
"How long have I been here?" I asked as he continued to smile at me strangely.
"A week."
When my mouth opened in surprise, he turned around and went back to the table and started looking for something.
Had I really been unconscious for a week?
