Chapter 3: things change

"I still don't get your grandfather chris." Alex smith says to his friend and fellow ruler. "Neither do I, no one does anymore." 

Chris and Alex walk through the halls of the castle. "I don't want one of those poor peasants in this castle."Chris looked at him annoyed thinking the word hypocrite.

"Your mother was once a poor peasant, Alex." Chris says. Alex's father married a orphan women of the district of bronze. She was not the prettiest women so Alex did not get why his father loved her. "This is a girl of the south, The poorest district of the south as matter of fact! Non of the south has ever stepped foot in this castle, and I think it's illegal for them to even leave the south!" Chris sighs.

"Things change Alex." 

Luma's pov:

"Your immediate family may go along with you if you have any." Said martyn the blonde man that announced my number. 

"My mother is my only immediate family." I mumble. He nods. We were sitting having tea in the mayors mansion. The place was decorated with a golden design wall paper and had a chandelier in the middle of the ceiling. The place also had a large fireplace with a painted picture of the fat ass of a mayor. "You and your mother will be pampered a bit before we reach the center." 

"Is that because we're from the district of coal." He shakes his head and I sigh. "We do this for everyone, and it's just to ensure you look your best when we arrive." I nodded taking a sip of tea. Just then the doors swing open revealing my mother. She runs over and hugs me. 

"How is this happening." She says. I nod holding onto her tighter.

"We will be leaving later in the day, you will not be seen until the ball. Kaeyi will be your stylist." Martyn says, and a girl with black hair and glasses. I notice piercings in her face as she walks over. "Do you two mind coming with me." She says. As we follow her, I take a moment to study the wall as and paintings as we walk past them. Most of them are pictures of past mayors but some of them are of random scenery that I've never seen of before. Probably from the north. 

We reach a room, with other women inside. "Kim, will be your stylist mam." Kaeyi says to my mom. She nods and walks over to Kim. "Have a seat." Kaeyi says. I sit and she begins to brush my hair. 

"Your hair is dry, and corse. I'll have to wash it, if that's ok." I nod. Staring at my face that stares back at me.

"What do you two think." Kaeyi asks. My hair was put into a low bun and had some sparkles sprinkled in. I had diamond stud earrings that sparkled in the light. Kaeyi put on a small amount of makeup because she said I was already so pretty but focused on my eyes, which had eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara to bring them out. My dress was long and flowing. It was navy blue with spaghetti straps and it had a open back. It had jewels all the way down in a straight line, and reminded me of a dress from the great catspy. I also had silver strap heels, that had small gems on it.

My mom had her short hair straightened, a small amount of makeup, and had a black long sleeve dress that went down to the floor, that had a triangle collar that showed some of her cleavage. She also had black heels as shoes.

 "Wow it's wow." My mom says and I smile. 

"Come along we need to go." Kaeyi says. We rush down the hall at a fair speed. "Ok so as a tradition each ruler will bring a girl down to the ball." I try to process as much as Kaeyi as saying but I'm distracted. Every girl drooled over all of the new rulers. They were very handsome, but I didn't care much of them. They were just another crush girls here would never have a chance with. But here I am, being told I'm about to walk in with one down to the ball.

We reached the roof where a helicopter was. I had never been in any mode of transportation beside a bike. We got in and put these ear things on. The next thing I knew we were flying in the air. I looked outside getting one last look. One last look at the district I grew up in.
