Chapter 7: perfect people

"Mommy, why did your bump go away." Asked young innocent Alex. His mother looked off into the window solemn and sad. "A mistake happened and the bump had to go away for good. Don't expect a little sister anymore." Alex was confused. But the child that was once in her womb was not from her husband, so it had to be killed, and covered up as a miscarriage. 

"Why did the baby have to go. Where did she go! I'm confused! Mommy mommy." His mother had enough.

"Shut up Alex and don't speak of it." She screamed at the young boy, hitting him across the face. Alex held his cheek crying, his mother nor his father had never hit him. His mother walked away leaving young innocent Alex abused and quiet. 

'Why do we have to be perfect.' Thought Alex. Now grown up and still filled with pain. 

Kyla's pov: 

It wouldn't be long before I began to show. I could run away. Run for the hills, or what lies outside the districts. Land untouched. No no not without telling Alex. Maybe he knows what I can do, or how I can save this child. I ran down the hall, where is Alex, where is he. I finally bumped into him in a hall.

"Kyla how was your opponent." Alex asked. I grabbed his arm and dragged him into a nearby closet. I looked around inside. No cameras.

"Alex, something bad has happened. No one can find out. And I mean no one not even Chris or Ross   or luma or Haru." He looked at me concerned, thinking I was probably going mad or something. 

"What happened." He asked. The terrified look on his face said it all. I sniffed crying. "I'm pregnant." 

He looked shocked and fearful. 

"It's mine right." He asked and I nodded. He sighed, slightly leaning against the wall. 

"Ok I got it!" He said. "You have to marry me! Quickly! So that they think that I got you pregnant during our engagement or marriage. So they won't kill the baby." He says gripping his hair. 

"Marriage." I say. He nods. I start crying and he brings me into a hug. "I know, it's scary." He says trying to be brave. He brings me out of the hug and holds my hand.

"Do you expect my offer of marriage." He asks. I wipe my tears away and nod. He smiles, slightly, and kisses me. This was terrifying. The fact that I had to keep my pregnancy a secret by hiding it with marriage and we couldn't even tell our closest friends, was terrifying. 

"I have to get my mothers engagement ring." He says. I smile, an watch as he walks out of the closet. I walk out after and watch him walk down the hall.

"Kyla, what were you and Alex doing in there." I turned to see Haru. That was probably the loudest I heard the poor girl speak.

"We were doing nothing." Her brown eyes stare at me and widen. "I know Kyla, I know." I look at her terrified. She knows what. She walks past me and whispers silently "I wish you and your child the best of luck."

I look dumb founded after she said that. How did she know.
