𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀 𝐆𝐮𝐧Grief was a terrible thing. It was a murderer. It could overtake your life if you allowed it to. It was strange, really, how quick things could change. How quickly somebody's life could change. One moment, somebody is smiling and laughing with their family and then the next they're.... dead.
Aurora paced the hospital, her head spinning and eyes burning. Every single possibility that she could think of, passed her mind. She bit at her nails and tugged at her hair.
"Aurora—" Tommy's voice came from down the hall as he rushed toward her. He grabbed the sides of her arms, "where is he?" He asked her. She just looked at him, eyes blank and frightening. "I think he's dead." She said, not a flicker of emotion in her eyes.
Tommy's face fell and he dropped his hands from her arms as he backed away slightly. "What happened Aurora?"
She raised her eyebrows and looked down when feeling herself go slightly dizzy. "They came to John's house. Four of them. And they shot him." She said very bluntly as if it were obvious. Tommy nodded slowly. "Right.." he whispered, taking off his cap.
Rory leaned her back against the wall and felt herself slide down it. One sat, she pulled her knees up to her chest and leaned her head on them. "Gone. All gone. All fucking gone!" She slowly raised her voice and kicked her leg forward, knocking over a bin.
Tommy looked at her with fright. He didn't mention another word to her. He went to find his brother.
Strangely, tears were not falling from Aurora's eyes like she thought they would've. She just felt cold, scared. She felt it was all just a bad dream and that none of it was real. But she knew it was real. Oh, it was very real. She sat, staring at the white wall for minutes.
People passed her.
The world kept moving around her as her world seemed to freeze. It seemed to stop.
Her hair was messy and skin was red raw from her scratching at it. It was only then when she realised she had John's blood on her. She let out a sharp exhale and stared at her hands. Her eyes flickered and she just forced her hands into fists.
And then, without thinking, sent it into the hard floor. Pain shot throughout her but she didn't seem to care. She did it again.
And again.
And again.
Until Tommy had returned, a look of concern all over his face. "Rory— Rory.." He said as he knelt down, grabbing her wrist as she was about to do it again. He had horror written across his features when seeing the blood. "Is that.."
"Johns." She answered plainly, ripping her hand away from him.
Tommy let out a breath and looked down, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Is he dead?" She asked. Tommy locked eyes with her. "Tommy, is he dead?" She asked again. No answer. "Tommy." She warned, standing up and so did he. "Tommy, answer me." She said again. "Tommy!" She screamed, "is John dead? Tell me!" She begged, her voice shaking.
Tommy said nothing and just sighed, hesitantly wrapping an arm around her to pull her in. She fought his attempt but he still won.
