The morning sunlight spilled softly across the hotel suite, painting golden streaks against the marble floor.
But the warmth of the morning never reached Samaira.
She sat motionless at the edge of the bed, her phone clenched tightly in her hands, eyes locked on the message glowing on the screen.
"If you truly want to destroy Advait, we can help you."
The words felt heavier the second time she read them.
And somehow...
More dangerous.
Across the room, Advait sat on the sofa with infuriating calmness, one arm resting against the backrest while the other loosely held a coffee mug. As if anonymous threats and hidden enemies were just another part of his morning routine.
Samaira looked up at him.
"How are you this calm?" she asked quietly.
Advait took another sip before answering.
"Because this was expected."
"That doesn't make it less creepy."
A faint smirk touched his lips.
"Creepy?"
She shot him a look.
"Yes, creepy. Unknown people texting me to destroy my husband twenty-four hours after our dramatic public fallout is not exactly comforting."
"Hm."
"Hm?" she repeated incredulously. "That's your response?"
"You're alive. They contacted you. The plan is working."
Samaira stared at him for a moment before throwing herself back dramatically against the headboard.
"God, you're exhausting."
Advait ignored that completely.
"What did you reply?"
"I didn't."
His brows lifted slightly.
"You froze?"
"I was thinking."
"You panic-thought."
"I do not panic-think."
"You absolutely panic-think."
She narrowed her eyes at him.
"You know, for someone who publicly declared me his greatest mistake last night, you're awfully comfortable criticizing my personality this morning."
That earned the faintest twitch near his mouth.
Not quite a smile.
But close.
Samaira caught it immediately.
"There!" she pointed accusingly. "Again!"
"What?"
"That almost-smile thing."
"I didn't smile."
"You did."
"You imagined it."
She scoffed dramatically.
"Gaslighting me already? We're barely at breakfast."
Advait leaned back again, calm as ever.
"You're distracting yourself."
Her expression slowly faded back into seriousness.
