The car cut through the empty streets like a bullet.

Rain had started pouring sometime during the drive, violent drops crashing against the windshield while the city blurred past in streaks of white and red.

Inside the SUV, chaos breathed.

"Advait..."

Samaira's voice cracked as she pressed both trembling hands against the side of his head, trying to stop the blood pouring through her fingers.

Too much blood.

Way too much.

Her chest tightened so hard it hurt to breathe.

"Stay awake," she whispered desperately. "Do you hear me? Advait... look at me."

Advait's head rested weakly against the seat, blood trailing from his temple down the side of his face. His breathing was uneven now. Shallow.

Dangerously shallow.

Yet somehow-

He smiled.

A weak, broken smile.

"Dekha..." he rasped faintly. "Maine bola tha na... tum mujhe itni aasani se nahi chhodogi."

("See... I told you... you wouldn't leave me that easily.")

"Shut up!" Samaira snapped, tears spilling uncontrollably. "Bas chup rahiye! Don't you dare joke right now!"

But he only looked at her.

And God-

That look destroyed her.

Like he was trying to memorize her face.

Like he already knew he was leaving.

The realization ripped through her chest.

"No..." she whispered instantly, shaking her head violently. "No. No, don't look at me like that."

Advait's lashes fluttered weakly.

"It's okay..." he murmured. "At least now... you're safe."

Samaira felt something inside her break.

Safe?

SAFE?

He had taken a bullet for her.

A bullet meant for her.

And he was worried about her safety?

"You idiot..." she cried, clutching his shirt. "Aapko kisne kaha tha mere saamne aane ko?!"

("Who told you to come in front of me?!")

A weak breath escaped him.

"You would've died."

"So what?!" she shouted hysterically. "So what if I would've died?!"

The entire car went silent.

Even Rohit's grip tightened on the steering wheel.

Samaira's lips trembled violently as she bent over Advait, sobbing now.

"I can't do this without you..." she whispered helplessly. "I can't..."

Advait looked at her for a long moment.

Then painfully-

Slowly-

His bloodstained fingers lifted toward her face.

He brushed beneath her eye weakly.

Trying to wipe her tears.
