Samaira's fingers remained wrapped tightly around her phone long after the shares were sold.
One click.
That was all it took.
One click to shake an empire.
One click to convince invisible enemies that she had turned against the man she loved.
The confirmation mail still glowed on the screen.
Transaction successful.
Her chest tightened.
For the first time since this entire plan started, the reality of it truly sank in.
She had done it.
She had actually done it.
The room felt unbearably silent afterward.
No messages.
No calls.
Nothing.
Just waiting.
And somehow the waiting felt worse than the lies.
I placed the phone beside me slowly before pressing both palms against my face.
"This feels horrible."
Across the room, Advait leaned against the window silently watching me.
Not cold.
Not detached.
Just... watching.
"You trust me, right?" he asked quietly.
I looked up immediately.
"That's not fair."
"It's a simple question."
"No," I muttered. "It's a dangerous one."
A faint smile touched his lips.
Still unfairly calm.
"How are you not stressed?"
"Oh, I am."
"You don't look stressed."
"I'm talented."
That earned the smallest laugh from me.
Tiny.
Weak.
But real.
Advait noticed it instantly.
"There," he murmured softly. "Better."
I rolled my eyes lightly.
"Don't act proud. I'm literally having a crisis."
"You're overthinking."
"I sold your company shares!"
"A small percentage."
"I betrayed your family."
"Temporarily."
"I may be helping psychopaths."
"That one is still under investigation."
Despite myself, another laugh escaped me.
God.
This man was impossible.
I leaned back against the headboard tiredly, staring at the ceiling.
"What if this goes wrong?"
Advait finally pushed himself away from the window and walked toward me slowly.
