When they arrived at the library, they were met with an unsettling sight—the man who had guided them was nowhere to be found. The library was eerily quiet, and the only sign of his presence was the box sitting on top of the table, untouched.
Arcia’s eyes narrowed. "He must have left it on purpose," she mused, eyeing the box. It seemed too deliberate, too convenient. After a brief but intense debate, they both came to the same conclusion.
Sieg stepped forward and, without hesitation, picked up the relic. The puzzle mechanisms within the box clicked open with a satisfying sound, revealing a small slot designed for the final piece. He slotted it into his legions relic with precision.
"Fits right in," Sieg muttered, watching as the relic began to glow. The glow lasted for a few seconds, before the energy settled and the relic’s assembly was complete.
A low hum filled the room as the power of the relic stabilized. Arcia watched, impressed, before turning her attention to the book resting beside it. She picked it up carefully, feeling its weight as if it contained the answers they had been seeking.
Her hand brushed against the bottom of the box, and she pulled out a small key.
"Must be for the scroll lock," Arcia said, her voice laced with realization.
Sieg nodded, taking the key from her and carefully unlocking the scroll. As the seals popped open, they both leaned in, eager to learn what secrets the scroll held.
Arcia's excitement faded quickly as she stared at the text. "Oh great… it’s in a language I can’t understand."
Sieg frowned, scanning the strange symbols. "Let me see." He leaned over and, after a moment, his expression shifted. "Wait, I know this. This is Ancient Arcana."
Arcia’s eyes lit up. "Ancient Arcana? That sounds familiar."
"Wait," Sieg said, straightening. "I’ve seen an Arcana book around here somewhere."
They scoured the library, searching through the shelves until Arcia found what they were looking for. Dusting off an old tome, she opened it to reveal the intricacies of Ancient Arcana.
"Looks like it’s the language of the Djinns," she said, her voice growing more confident as she read the first few symbols. "I know enough to recognize it now."
Sieg’s eyes widened with understanding. "The Djinns. That’s who’s sealed in these scrolls."
They both sat down, flipping through the book to learn as much as they could. Through their study, they pieced together a rudimentary understanding of the Djinn language, enough to communicate with them once they were freed from their seals.
With the scroll securely in her backpack, Arcia stood up. "We’ve got what we need. Let’s head to the first seal."
Sieg nodded, adjusting the relic at his side. "Time to release the Djinns, then."
Together, they set course for their next destination, the weight of the scroll and the key heavy in their possession. The journey ahead would take them deeper into the mysteries of the multiverse, where the true nature of the Djinns—and their power—awaited.
