Naps (Ft. ICT - Different periods)

AN - Yeah there may be a couple of more? Extremely short.

Sourav (Dada)- I have very high standards, you know.

Rahul - I can make spaghetti...

Sourav (Dada) Oh no! You're meeting all my standards!

"Hey."

Sourav looked up and then went back to glaring at the photographs.

"Dada?"

"Hmm?"

"I said hi."

Sourav looked up. "No, you said hey."

"You will go for semantics?"

Sourav shrugged and picked up his cup of cooling tea. "Needed anything? The Team?

Rahul hesitated. "No? The Team is fine; mostly."

"Okay. That is good."

Rahul still lingered in the doorway and Sourav could only ignore him for so long before the uncomfortableness of it got to him. "Rahul? What is it?"

That his voice was sharp enough to cut through glass was not lost on either of them.

"N-nothing. I just wanted to..ask whether I can share the room today?"

"This room?" Sourav was incredulous. "But why?"

Rahul rubbed the back of his head. "There is a heater outage? Half the rooms are freezing."

Sourav looked at the fire burning away at the stone fireplace and smirked, a tab bit cruelly. "Oh hard luck. Though I guess, being the Captain, you can just order any one of us to move out?"

"I would never do that!" Rahul retorted immediately and flushed. "It is okay. I will manage."

And the man left before Sourav could put up a protest; not that he really wanted to. It was when he had finished with his tea and was pulling up the quilt that he felt the chill. Despite the fire warming the room, Sourav was still feeling the chills shaking the inside of his heart; starting right at the end of his throat.

He did not quite want to but still stepped out from his comfortable cocoon on the bed and trudged to where Rahul's room was. The corridor was bitterly cold and he lamented not pulling on a thicker jumper. He knew that Rahul could have taken one of the better rooms and it was not lost on him, that the best room had been allocated to Sourav.

And not the Captain.

With a solitary rap on the door, Sourav stepped in Rahul's room and was brought up short. To say that the room resembled an ice box would probably be placing it lightly and in the midst of the winter land, stood the bed, that housed a miserable Rahul Dravid, whose blanket was pulled up to his nose.

Sourav's knock had Rahul sitting up and he was now just silently staring at his friend.

Yes, they were friends. Despite everything or maybe, inspite everything, Sourav knew that they would always be friends.

"Come on."

With the two short words, Sourav stepped out and without looking to confirm whether Rahul was following him, he made his way back to his room. And yes, his friend had followed him, a blanket clenched in his hand, and dragging it along.

"Sleep here. I will take the couch." Sourav went to move the bedding but Rahul stepped up and held unto Sourav's hand.

"Please. I just need to sleep."

Sourav overlooked the twisting of his heart and retorted. "Then sleep, Rahul. The bed is comfy."

But the hold did not loosen. "Please?"

And Sourav sighed. It took them a moment to settle down and in the dark room, with just the flames from the fire lighting it up, the tiredness crept unto them.

"Do you want to talk?" Sourav did not want to but offered, nevertheless; Rahul shook his head.

"I just wish to sleep. Is it okay?"

Sourav again did not want to, but he relented, stretched out a hand and sighed as Rahul place his head on his arm. "Sleep, Rahul. How long did not sleep properly?"

There was no reply.

"Yaar Rahul, what...." And even as he turned, Sourav found Rahul asleep, and the lightest snores escaping him. "Oh he really was tired."

And, despite everything, Sourav sat vigil over his friend. There were many ways to show his anger but denying his best friend this comfort he sought, was not one of them.

And sometimes, you only needed a good nap.

A/N - Very random, very small
