Welcome back, if you decided to skip the previous oneshot!

This one takes place during 'The Great Arctic Adventure', but that'll be obvious. I wanted to write this one for a while, but wasn't sure how it would go. However, I think it's all right. So, enjoy!😛

Angel's Arctic Adventure

Extra clothes? Check. Blanket? Check. Flossie? Check. Journal? Check. Pens? Wait... Wait...

Twelve-year-old Angel dug through her backpack. Why was it whatever she needed was always at the bottom of the bag?

"Ha ha!" she shouted triumphantly, brandishing the pens.

Honestly, she wasn't sure how much time she'd have for journalling on this trip- or if she would even be physically capable of writing when her fingers froze solid, but just in case. Besides, she loved writing and she loved the Arctic. (She'd been there a couple of times already.) So, it was only logical that she wanted to write about her trip to the Arctic.

Grinning to herself, Angel slung her backpack over her shoulder, taking one last look at her bedroom. She took in the vibrant ocean scene on the wall; the yellow quilt with rainbows printed on it; the special rock on her bedside table; her jellyfish nightlight; the incredible ocean view out the window, although it was currently marred by the Octo-repair station. She was going to miss it; she almost felt like she was never going to see it again, but sadness took a backseat with all her excitement. Flapping her left arm, she sprinted out the door...

...Only to almost immediately collide into Peso.

"Oops!" she giggled, skidding to a halt. "Sorry, Peso!"

"Oh, that's all right", gentle, polite, understanding, soft-hearted Peso replied. "I know you're excited. I am too." He eyed the backpack on her shoulder. "I see you're ready to go."

"Yep. Are you?"

"Yes. Let's go and see if the Captain's ready."

Peso had to hold Angel's hand to stop her from running too fast and smashing into someone else. On the way, they heard a series of crashes coming from the lab.

"I don't think this is working", they heard Shellington comment to himself. "Maybe I need another bag for all these books."

Angel giggled. She knew Shellington well enough to know that it would never occur to him to leave a few books behind.

For a brief moment, her smile faltered. She wondered if the otter knew just how lucky he was to have so many books, so many possessions. The fire was two years ago. The Octonauts had given Angel necessities and some other toys and stuff when she first came to the Octopod and she'd had two birthdays since then. So, it wasn't like she herself was lacking in possessions now. Even so, it was hard to forget about everything- and everyone- she had lost in the fire. Or how heartbreaking it had been.

"Angel?" Peso helped snap her out of it. "Are you coming?"

"Yeah!" The twelve-year-old shook it off. This was supposed to be a happy, exciting time. She was going on holiday! She should just stop thinking about the fire and the devastating loss of her family for now.

But that was easier said than done.

"I'm ready to go, Captain!" Peso announced, popping out of the Octochute in Captain Barnacles' room.

Angel was right behind him. "Me too!" she chimed in, that grin returning to her face. "And so's Flossie!" She gestured to the stuffed turtle, now cradled under her arm.

"I'm glad you could both- all", the Captain corrected himself, eyeing Flossie, "join me on my trip home to the Arctic."

Truthfully, Angel had nowhere else to go. Most of the others had made holiday plans and had been chattering excitedly about them for weeks. However, Angel was too young to go on holiday by herself and, while Tweak, Professor Inkling and the Vegimals would be staying on the Octopod, the whole reason everyone was having holidays was because the Octopod needed to be repaired. The twelve-year-old had a feeling she would just be in the way. Yet, initially, nobody had invited her to come along with them. So, while everyone was discussing their own plans, Angel couldn't help feeling worried about what she would do and a little left out.
