"What's going on?" I said.
"Chad and I practically broke up. We were in such a huge fight earlier, and I said some horrible things I wish I could take back. And now, he ran off. I haven't gone out checking yet, because I wanted you to come with me. I need to apologize to him. You came to see me, and now I want you to come back with me to see him. I hope I can mend our relationship. The fight was only like a half hour ago, and I already miss him so much. I just need to see him again. I want him to know how sorry I am." She said. We took off momentarily, and began looking. He wasn't at their hideout spot, he wasn't at his house, the park, market, or any other place we checked.
"What about your house?" I said.
"He wouldn't be there. Why would he go there? We just had a huge fight. There's no way." She said.
"C'mon. Please? Can we just check?" I replied. She sighed, agreed to my plan, and we went towards Juliana's house.
When we got there, she took out her key, handed it to me, and I opened the door.
"You go check, I'll stay here." She said. I checked every room of that house, and I found absolutely no sign of him. She came inside, and we sat down.
"I'll go make a snack, and then we'll continue." She began. "Do you like tomatoes on your sandwiches?"
"Yes please." I said, and she went into her kitchen.
I turned on her television, and sat back and relaxed. Suddenly, Juliana busted out, with a look of extreme anxiety.
"The big knife is missing." She said.
"What?" I said.
"The big knife is missing." She repeated.
"And...?" I said.
"It was here before I left, somebody had to have taken it." She paused. "But who would? I can't think of anyone who..." She looked at me, and began tearing up. "Chad. He had to have taken it. He has access getting in here... We have to stop him before..." She stopped, and I didn't need her to finish that sentence before we were out the door.
"Anywhere else you can think of?" I said. She shook her head. This was horrible. There was nowhere.
"What if," I began. "He's at his house. I know we already checked, but we have to try again. I just know there has to be something there we missed." She looked at me with that look I always get when I pitch an idea to her, but we went to his house.
The door was unlocked, and we were able to walk in. It seemed as nobody was home, but we had to check.
"What there anywhere we didn't check?" I said.
"Only the bathroom, but that's not important." She said. The first room I ran to was the locked bathroom. I knew there was a key, that I got right away, and opened the door.
