Wednesday - November 19th, 1996

It's Wednesday.

Sal has to tutor Travis at his apartment after school.

Needless to say, Sal was pretty excited. He truly hoped his plan to befriend the blond boy would work.

And if it didn't end up working...

Well, he didn't think that far yet.

But he has hope it will work out.

"Hey, man, you good?" Larry spoke up, walking beside him on his right side, Todd on his left.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, just kinda zoned out for a sec." Sal responded, slightly shaken up from being tore out of his thoughts.

When they approached on the long sidewalk that lead up to the school entrance he saw Travis walking just up ahead a bit.

His head was down and his hands gripped onto the straps of his backpack.

Before Sal could really even think, his body started to jog up to the blond haired boy.

Arriving at the taller boy's side startled him. Travis looked down at the bluenette with a look of confusion.

"What do you want?" Travis asked, not sounding as defensive as he probably wanted to.

Sal didn't reply for a moment as he actually did not know what he was doing or why he ran up to the blond boy. He just came up with something on the spot so he didn't seem weird.

Er- weirder than he already is.

"Just wanted to make sure you don't forget about after school. Y'know, the tutoring thing?"

"Yes. I know." Travis sternly stated, looking at the ground again.

They were both silent for a moment, just walking, until Travis spoke up again.

"Why aren't you with your little flamer friends?"

Sal didn't actually know. He just kinda walked up to him without thinking. He took a glance back at Larry and Todd. Both of them with a confused face, Larry more disgusted with his expression.

"Cause I wanted to hang out with you." Sal blurted out. There he goes again, acting before thinking. Immediately after, the bluenette felt his face heat up slightly.

He didn't really mean to say that.

Travis looked back at the shorter boy with pure confusion and a slight blush on his face.

Wait why is he blushing?

He probably got caught off guard, stop trying to make it something it isn't. He's straight anyways.

"Why?" Travis finally asked.

"I-...I just wanted to. I think you're kinda cool."

Oh my god Sal.

You just keep digging yourself deeper.

Travis looked away, his face flushed a dark rose colour.

"Um...You never said where you lived. Cause for like- the tutoring." The blond boy quickly changed the subject.

"Oh yeah, um...I'll just text it to you."

Travis just hummed in response.

Okay he should probably go back to Larry and Todd before they get super weirded out.

"Um...See you, Travis." Sal said before walking back to his friends.

"What the fuck was that, Sal?" Larry asked, exasperated.

"Was just talking about the tutoring thing."

"Wait, what?" Todd spoke up.

Oh right, nobody told Todd.

"Oh, yeah, um...I kinda have to tutor Travis after school today." Sal nervously responded, fidgeting with the end of his shirt.

"Oh." Todd simply responded.

"I didn't think it would be too bad because lately he hasn't been spewing slurs or anything like that. Actually most the times I talk to him now, he's pretty quiet and barely says anything." The bluenette reasoned.

Todd judged hummed with an odd look of knowing on his face.

Weird.

It was now lunch.

Sal sat with his friends at their normal table.

"Hey man, your little tutoring thing you got going on with Travis after school, do you want me to like stay with y'all? Like just in case he tries to start shit y'know?" Larry offered as Sal took his seat next to him with his lunch tray.

Sal thought it over for a minute before deciding that wouldn't be too good of an idea.

1. Because Larry and Travis don't have the best of history with eachother and they would probably butt heads.

And 2. Because Sal is trying to befriend and get closer to Travis. And he figured it would be better if they were alone so Travis feels comfortable enough to open up.

"Naw man, I'll be fine, bud. Don't worry so much about me so much, I can take care of myself." Sal replied.

"Alright, if you say so, bud." Larry cautiously said, taking a sip from the small carton of apple juice that came with his lunch.

Sal's eye wandered over to where Travis sits, alone. Kinda sad to be honest. Everyday he sits alone at the same table, just writing in the same black spiral notebook.

Most of the time Sal doesn't even see him eat. Although that's understandable. The school lunches are foul. But it still worried Sal as Travis already looked pretty skinny for his age and height.

And there sat the blond haired boy. Writing in his notebook like everyday. Although he looked pretty nervous.

His leg was bouncing and he had a pretty anxious look on his face.

After a couple moments Sal was interrupted by the sound of Ash's voice saying his name.

"Whatcha' looking at, Sal?" Ash asked, kind of leaning over the table.

Her eyes then followed the bluenette's, now both staring at the blond boy.

"Why are you looking at him?" She inquired with a slight look of confusion and distaste plastered on her face.

"I- um...I don't know...Guess I kinda zoned out and my eye fixated on something random." Sal tried to reason, absolutely not wanting Ash to know he has a thing for his literal bully.

She would probably flip her shit if she knew. Travis has been tormenting the group for literal years, and Sal just had to develop feelings for him.

Ash then looked back at Sal with a look like she was inspecting him.

"Kay." She slightly shrugged and then proceeded to go on about some random new album from an artist he didn't know.

Sal kinda half-zoned out and glanced back to where Travis was sitting.

The blond boy was gone now. Huh. Whatever.
