Alice's P.O.V.
This was it. The big day. My first ever performance on a stage. We had flown down to London yesterday and stayed over at a very fancy hotel. When they were serving us dinner they revealed our meals from underneath a silver metal dome. While saying 'et voila' and flourishing the napkins at the same time. Me and Kit couldn't stop laughing the entire night resulting in the full resteraunt giving us looks. This morning when we arrived for breakfast we were escorted to the backroom where no one else sat, trying to keep us quiet I guess.
After arriving at the stadium and doing some interviews I was fired straight into sound checks. I had met my band about a month ago and they were the coolest bunch of people ever, and they were all so talented. After soundcheck I headed backstage with Kit where I started to get ready. Me and my makeup artist Adam decided to keep it simple opting for a natural base, minimal eye shadow but with wispy eyelashes and a bright violet lip. My hair stylist waved my hair back combing it slightly and pinning it up to give it more volume. I had just decided to go with plain black clothes. I wore a pair of sequin shorts, a crop top, a pair of small boot heels and only wore a choker and some rings. I was waiting behind the wings with Kit when I started to get butterflies.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side.
"You okay?" He asked lifting my chin up with his finger.
"I'm nervous. What if I'm off key. What if I forget the words. What if they don't like me" I began to ramble
"Hey! They'll love you! You know those songs back to front! Just get up there and sing and perform and dance, just pretend it's only me that's watching. Okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, thanks" I smiled pecking him on the lips. I was ready.
I was standing underneath the stage, I heard the countdown and people screaming my name. My band struck up playing an instrumental piece that linked nicely into Price Tag. I felt myself being raised, and I just focused on the music, when I got to the top I saw the crowd, I saw banners, girls screaming as far as I could see and I just sang. It was magical. I jumped about stage a bit. Allowing myself to be free and just do what felt natural. At one point I was using my glittery mic stand as a guitar. I only had two songs left to sing and I was currently in one of the middle of the walkways. I had to make my way back to the main stage, so I decided to talk for a minute. I took my in ears out and listened to the crowd screaming at me, I couldn't help but smile.
"Okay, so this second last song, is a very important one to me. I know many of you know I write my own songs, but this one, I took inspiration from something that a very clever, kind person once told me." I smiled across to the other side of the stage as I arrived back at the stage. I heard people screaming Kit's name and I giggled. Although we hadn't made ourselves official yet, most people had cottoned on. "This person means a lot to me, I love them so much! But I love singing this song because I feel like its a very strong message. For years I struggled being myself, actually being able to show what I loved to do. To sing. So I want to say, to anyone out there that struggles under the pressures of friends, family, the public in general - never try to please them first, only once you are comfortable and happy with yourself, should you even care what they think about you" the band started to strike up behind me and I sang Who You Are. I put my all into singing it, riffing, going higher, holding longer notes, I felt myself smiling through the entirety of the song, and off stage so was Kit.
When I started to perform Do It Like A Dude the crowd went crazy, close to the end of the song I took out my in ears and told them to sing. It was the most amazing feeling, I heard them singing back to me my song, one that I had wrote about 3 years ago, I felt alive. I thanked the crowd and ran off stage, they continued to chant my name until the countdown for the next artist went up. When I got off stage I jumped into Lot's arms and he spun me around planting a kiss on my cheek before putting me down. Kailyn and Richard ran over to me grabbing me into a group hug. I posted a picture on Instagram shortly after of me on stage that Kailyn had took. We went back to the hotel changed into some comfortable clothes and headed to the airport. When we got there, a swarm of fans came running over to me, I happily took some selfies with them and made my way through the airport. The plane we were on was the biggest one I had ever been on, we all had individual sleep pods, TV's unlimited food and drink, it was crazy. Me and Lot lowered the partition so that we could sleep next to each other because we were both shattered.
When we arrived in Dubai we were greeted by another swarm of fans, we were took to out hotel which was massive and shown to our rooms. When me and Kit got in I sat my case down and walked over to the most magnificent piano I had ever seen in my life. I felt Kit walk up behind me brushing my hair to one side and placing soft kisses down my neck. He brushed his hand down my arm reaching for the piano keys.
"I asked for it specially" he said.
I smiled and turned to face him.
"You were amazing on that stage Alli! I've never seen you look so alive in your life, I am so proud of you!" He grinned from ear to ear.
I leaned in an slammed my lips onto his, he moved his hands to my waist, picking me up and moving over to the bed. Tonight was going to be fun.
