Rono and Konane had been waiting anxiously for their friends, who had gone to search for a lost animal earlier that day. Konane fidgeted with his hands, a sense of unease settling in the pit of his stomach. "What's taking them so long? I have a bad feeling about this," he murmured, casting a worried glance at the dirt path that led into the dense thicket beyond.

Rono shared his concern. "I know, right? It doesn't make sense for them to be held up like this just to find a little animal. I hope nothing bad happened to them," he replied, furrowing his brow.

"What if they stumbled upon that creature that has been killing the animals around here, or maybe they got lost?" Konane's voice was tinged with worry.

"Nah, they know this rancho like the back of their hand. And if they did encounter something dangerous, I'm sure old Grandpa can handle it," Rono reassured, though uncertainty lingered in his own mind.

As the evening shadows lengthened, a voice called out from the darkness outside. "Rono and Konane, where are you?" It was Eztli, their friend, a tinge of urgency in her tone as she repeated their names over and over.

Konane peered through the window, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "I see Eztli, but... where are the others?" he wondered aloud, his brow furrowed in confusion.

"What is she doing out there? Why is she looking for us in that direction?" Rono pondered, a sense of unease creeping over him.

Konane hesitated before speaking, his voice low. "Should we go out and tell her we're here?"

Rono hesitated, recalling the warnings of Peta's grandma about not opening the door for anyone. "Yeah, but remember what Grandma said. We shouldn't open the door for anyone unless we're sure it's safe. I don't understand why, though," he mused, a worried expression on his face.
