Eztli didn't wait to see what would happen next. She pushed forward, leaping over fallen debris, weaving past terrified spirits Somewhere behind her, the Cihuateteo let out a shrill, ghostly cry.

" She is crying, or it sounds like a laughing, to me," Eztli muttered under her breath.

She burst out of the cavern and into the jungle, where the moon hung low and heavy in the sky. The jungle was alive with whispers and shifting shadows, and she wasn't entirely sure if that was a good or bad thing. She caught sight of Rono and Konane up ahead, arguing about something in frantic whispers.

"Hey! We've got a situation!" she called, nearly stumbling into them.

Rono turned, his face a mixture of relief and exasperation. "No kidding! We saw you open the cages. What did you do?"

Eztli hesitated, then shrugged. "Uh... liberated some spirits? I didn't want to kill them.

 Honestly, it's all a blur. Where's Peta?"

Konane pointed toward other direction, looking for her grandma.

A sudden howl split the air, followed by the distinct sound of chaneques shrieking in horror. The massive Ahuizotl was on the move, crashing through the jungle like a living nightmare, its pup trotting happily beside it.

"We should probably hurry," Eztli said, gulping.

Zacil arrived at the scene with her granddaughter where Eztli and her friends stood. Zacil's presence commanded attention. She observed the chaos for a moment before turning to them with a calm but firm expression.

"This is a good time to awaken your nahuales," she said, her voice steady, reverberating through the night air. "You have always carried the power within you. Now, it is time to call upon it. I will be watching."

The four children exchanged confused glances. They spread out, trying to focus, but none of them knew how to begin. The battle raged around them, and the tension grew thicker. They went to find something to protect themselves as the Cihuateteo hurled chaneques as if they were mere playthings, tossing them through the air like weightless dolls.

Konane watched in horror as the Cihuateteo approached his friends. The spectral entity moved with an eerie grace, its eyes locked onto Rono and Peta, who struggled to fend off the incoming threats. Panic surged through him as he realized they were in real danger. He lunged forward, grabbing them just in time to pull them out of the way of the Cihuateteo's grasp.

In that moment, something stirred deep within him. His breath came in sharp, rapid bursts, his heart pounding as he saw the fear in his friends' eyes. Konane's breath came in sharp, ragged gasps. His body felt heavy, slow, useless against the monsters surging toward them. His whole life, he had been the one to protect—but now, his fists were empty, his strength nothing compared to the battle around him.

A pressure built in his chest, like a storm ready to strike. His fingers grew claws, his body tensing. The trees around him whispered—the rustling leaves, the hissing wind. It all called to him.

Then, the pain hit.

A sudden heat spread through his limbs, a force both unfamiliar and yet natural. His vision blurred, and a howl—deep and primal—rose from his throat. His body was cover of energy yellow- dog, his senses heightened, his speed unmatched.

His instincts took over immediately. He leaped at the Cihuateteo, snapping at it, his fangs grazing its aura form. The spirit recoiled, unprepared for such an attack. Konane was no longer just a boy—he was stronger than before.
