"Alright ladies and gentlemen, just before you get to see who you actually came to see!" Dave screamed into the microphone. Stadium arena or church concert, this front man never failed to stretch his vocal chords in order to make sure everyone hears him. "Everyone this is a new song, which Taylor sings. For our last one, this is Cold Day In The Sun!"

"1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4."

Taylor tapped the sticks rhythmically as Chris picked up a steady riff, setting the tone for the whole song. This was a song that no one else had heard; Not even Emmalyn.

"Took a high dive into your brain."

As the rest of the band syncopated the grooves, Taylor stayed a backbone as he tried his hardest to keep the lyrics and the drum beat relatively in time.

Looking out to the audience, Taylor noticed a wave of teenage girls with cherry red hair and facial piercings. There was a handful of Foo Fighters shirts throughout the crowd, but the majority were there for Cherry Gloss. It was most likely that those being there in Foo shirts were just coincidentally wearing them, as even the band didn't know they were playing tonight until this afternoon.

His eyes danced around the onlookers for a little moment before they met Emmalyn. He saw her battling with her bass, as she was plucking away at strings, her head bopping along.

The chaos on the side stage was mildly comforting to Taylor as he sat on stage, probably in even more chaos, but seeing through it all; there was Emmalyn.

"It's your cold day in the sun."

As Taylor's voice harmonised with Dave's, Emmalyn's piercing blue eyes looked up and glanced immediately to Taylor. He tried to play off that his hadn't already been stalking in her direction.

"Thank you ladies and gentlemen!!"

The light of the theatre turned down as the song came to a close. Taylor sighed deeply in a mixture of exhaustion and satisfaction. He sounded good — and he hoped Emmalyn had heard.

Wiping his sweaty thighs with the towel he'd sat on, Taylor pulled himself up with aching calves and wandered off stage after throwing his sticks into the crowd.

"Good show!" Amanda shouted after shooting some jäger, dragging Nate into a hug.

Everyone exchanged well dones and thank yous; everyone except Taylor and Emmalyn. All they had exchanged was a constant and intense eye contact, which made him feel as though he was floating.

"Alright, we're gonna get some beer and we'll come and watch you ladies!" Dave set, letting Emmalyn loose from his hug as him and his band walked away and towards the dressing rooms. Everyone in the band except Taylor.

"Uh, hey," Taylor called as Emmalyn had momentarily turned back to her bass, chatting to Amanda about something or other.

Emmalyn turned over her shoulder to see Taylor, standing like an awkward teenage boy waiting for an autograph. His shoulders hung low and his hand stood flatly in the air as though he was trying to wave but couldn't.

"Hey, darling," Emmalyn's words hung heavy in the air as Taylor's heart seemed to speed up, not from the show he'd just played but the way she had just addressed him, "You sung beautifully."

"Thank you," Taylor uttered sweetly as Emmalyn complacently placed her instrument back into a stand just by the curtain which was now down for the interval.

"So..." Emmalyn wandered back over, close enough for Taylor to smell the booze in her breath and the way her eyes were slightly wider than usual, "Are you gonna watch us, me I mean?"

"I suppose I am," Taylor tried to drop his awkwardness and join in on her playful talk, him being slightly tipsy himself.

"Good, good," Emmalyn moved even closer, lacing her arms around his neck, her hot breath enclosing him in. She carried a scent of vodka and cigarettes as his hands met her waist.

"How long do we have? Until you go on I mean," Taylor stuttered, but not losing his cool as her face drew nearer.

"About five more minutes, I need to pee though," Taylor listened to Emmalyn's voice as it was slurring gently.

"You go pee, doll. I'll be right here," Taylor tapped on the amp behind him as he leant against it gently.

"Mkay, stay here please."

As Emmalyn wandered away, Amanda snickered, "Don't worry drummer boy, she'll be sober soon enough."

They both share a giggle and relax back into their own minds.

"You don't have to listen to our La Dee Da, if you don't want to you know?" Emmalyn had come back and slung her guitar over her shoulder before walking back towards Taylor.

She'd been gone for five minutes, and one toilet trip and a feverishly cold splash of water to the face, Emmalyn had managed to sober up as much as she needed to before the show, regaining a little self-consciousness.

"I want to," Taylor brushed his knuckles against Emmalyn's slightly damp cheek as his longing gaze lingered on her eyes.

She read as a mixture of nerves, excitement and what could only be described as butterflies. Taylor loved being able to visibly see what Emmalyn thought about him.

"Good. I mean-."

"On we go girls!" Amanda shouted, her eyes glaring at the front woman who was gawking over the blonde drummer.

"Taylor, I've gotta-."

"Rock on ladies!" Dave had wandered backstage once again, Corona in one hand, sign of the horns waving in the air with the other.

"Tay-."

"Emmalyn, come on," Jade urged to Emmalyn as her view conflicted between her band and Taylor.

"Go, Emmalyn. Go on."

Emmalyn sighed dramatically, hearing Amanda test out her crash cymbal as she became acquainted with the stool.

She pushed her face closer to his, letting him guide her, even though it was so quick.

Taylor closed the ridiculously close gap, her lips brushing his with a tentative softness before she pulled away after her arm was dragged by the guitarist. "Emmalyn do that later!"

He could only grin as he watched Emmalyn being pulled onto the stage, so lost but yet so comfortable.

"Kill it, doll!"

"Alright and this one is from our first record," Emmalyn picked away at a smooth bass line as she spoke, backed up by a gentle beat from her best friend, "Ladies and gentlemen, this song was named after one of my heroes; who you've already seen tonight actually. This one is called Smear the Stars!"
