"So, do you want a turkey slider, or some eggs and turkey or if you're really lucky, I make a mean turkey curry?" Emmalyn rummaged through her stacked fridge, searching for some food to make Taylor for breakfast.
The pair had gotten into the kitchen and Taylor sat at the breakfast bar, flicking through a magazine like they used to. "Uh, slider is fine thank you," Taylor laughed, "Although you'll have to show me the curry some other time. Maybe after Christmas dinner?"
"You got yourself a deal," Emmalyn spread the ingridients over the countertop and started buttering the bread.
"Shall I fix us some coffee?" The clock had struck midday and the pair were more than tempted to get back into bed and sleep anything off, but the day was still young. "That would be nice."
"Later," Taylor started, laying their mugs down on the counter and retrieving the coffee grounds before he continued, "Do you wanna maybe take a walk later?"
Emmalyn didn't bother to turn towards him, continuing in preparing their sandwiches while talking, "That sounds nice, where are you thinking of?"
Taylor flicked the percolator on and sat atop the counter top while waiting for the machine to work its magic, "The beach maybe? I think we should talk about something."
"Is everything okay?" Emmalyn turned around this time, her expression fearful but it disappeared once she saw the relaxed smile which Taylor possessed.
"Yeah- well. Maybe? That's why I want to talk," Taylor almost stopped talking and waited for her to reply, but quickly slipped in, "And I don't want to worry you, I just want to update you. I do care about you."
"I care about you too."
She finished the sandwiches and plated them
up on the breakfast bar, getting seated whilst Taylor prepared the coffee, quite confused as to why the man was heating and frothing milk, but she didn't think about it."Alright," Taylor placed two mugs next to their two plates, "Here."
Emmalyn looked at the coffee with a confused expression whilst Taylor moved around to sit beside her. He had presented her with a latté complete with art, in the mug with her initial on.
"Taylor this is sweet..." Emmalyn's voice trailed off, her fingers tracing the delicate design in the foam. It was a heart, simple but perfect, and she couldn't help but smile, even if she wasn't entirely sure why it made her feel so warm.
"I hope you like it..." His smile was smug for a moment until Emmalyn opened her mouth again.
"I don't drink coffee with milk?" Her teeth were gritted, hoping not to offend the man who'd made the effort for her. She was entirely confused as to why he'd gone to the lengths that he had, instead of serving her a black coffee like Taylor had done for himself.
Instead of looking hurt, or even offended, Taylor's face turned to a playful anger, "Oh that motherfucker," He cursed under his breath.
Emmalyn got up, laughing with Taylor as she poured another mug of black coffee for herself, "Who lied to you, sweetie?"
"David," He sighed, swirling the liquid in his mug.
"Of course he did, why did you expect him to tell you the truth?"
"I have no idea, darling."

"So, dolly..." Taylor uttered as they walked along the coastline, "I have a question."
The sunset was pristine, like the view Emmalyn had out of her kitchen. The horizon blushed in gradients of amber and rose, the waves lapping rhythmically at their feet.
