Amari

We were busy. Too busy. From negotiating business deals to planning for the future, there was no time for me to train Lynn. She'd be fine without it anyway, I wasn't too worried. I walked down the long hallway to Chris's office. I open the door and place some papers on his desk. "There you are Chris" I nod to the papers

"Thanks" he glances up at me. Bags were forming under his eyes, it was evident he hadn't slept in days. I turn around to walk away, knowing he wouldn't listen if I told him to rest. "'Mari?" Chris calls out behind me.

"Yeah?" I ask, facing him

"I-" He starts "nevermind, sorry I'm tired" he groans, slumping in his chair. My eyes softened.

"Chris, take a break." I say

"No." He stares at me coldly. "I will not have any of us be put to risk with this threat hanging above our heads! You think just because we're one of the tops, we can slack?!" I turn around and walk out. The last thing I wanted was to argue with Chris. He tries so hard, and he loves us all so much. I head downstairs, to find the dining room empty. I walk around, seeing Lynn with Shai. He was teaching her basic first aid. I smile at them fondly. I've only known Lynn for less than a month but she brought color to my vision. I wanted to protect her and keep her, she brought light to cold holes in my soul that I forgot existed. My smile falls when a reminder pops up on my phone. I walk out of the house with a briefcase and a gun. Loading into a car, I drive an hour away to a secluded area, and wait in an abandoned alley. Leaning against the car, I waited until 3 men approached me. I pull out my gun, pointing it at one of them. "2 minutes late." I grin "Should I shoot a person for each minute?" They walked to me, trying to feign confidence, but I could see through them.

"Do you have the drugs smartass?" one of them said

"Thats no way to talk to your dealer, is it?" I smile, bringing my gun to his chin. "Do you have your payment?" I watch as he gestures to one of the other men giving me a bag of money. "And?" I look expectantly One of the men in the back looks at me wide-eyed.

"There was more?! Oh my g-gosh I'm so sorr-" bang. I shoot him, cutting him off

"Whoops, he was taking too long" I smile, watching blood run out of his body "Maybe get him to a hospital?" I pull out the small suitcase of drugs and hand it to them. "Or if you get him high enough off this, maybe it wont hurt anymore" I shrug.

The main just stared at me, unfazed "Pleasure doing business with you"

"And to you" I give him a 2 finger salute and get back in my car, driving away. Life was so fun.

Lynn

Something was up. Everyone was busier than usual, and there was something that they weren't telling me. Shai was still available for his lessons with me, but one in a while he'd seem preoccupied. I guess everyone had their days, I wasn't too worried. I was worried about Chris however. I hadn't seen him come out of his office in 2 days. He locked himslef in there, and hasn't come out. I was worried about him. So today, his third day there, I've decided will be the day he comes out. I gather ingredients from around the kitchen and start putting toghether a tortilla soup. I let it simmer and started baking some cupcakes, and while that was in the oven, I made frosting. I finished my big project just around lunchtime, starting to ice the cupcakes. I smile as I set a bowl of soup and a cupcake up on a tray and head up to Chris' room. I knock on his door softly. "Come in." I hear his voice "Rylen, if you're coming to bother me again, I will shoot you!" He adds angrily. Opening the door gently, I peep my head out behind the door.

"It's me, the better sibling actually" I smile. Chris looks at me wide-eyed, and starts putting papers away and closing his laptop.

"Sorry, it's such a mess in here" He smiles weakly. I step in the room fully, carrying the food I made proudly. I set it on his desk.

"Eat, you haven't come out of here in 3 days" I frown

"Oh, thanks" He says suprised, looking at the food. "I suppose I am hungry." I nod. No doubt he was hungry. I watch him eat his food to get his reaction. "It's good Lynn" He smiles at me. The circles under his eyes looked purple. He finishes eating as I look around his office, looking at framed photos of all of the places he's been and the guys together. I turn around, only to see him back to work. "Chris." I say sternly. He looks up, suprised.

"Yeah?"

"No more work! 3 days is more than enough!"

"No, I'm working!" He argues. I walk up to him, grabbing his hand.

"Chris, please" I plead "I'm worried about you. I know everyone has work but it doesn't hurt to take a break. How are you going to do good work if you don't take care of yourself first?"

"Fine" he sighs reluctantly. I tug at his sleeve, leading him to his room. I usher him into the bathroom.
"Go shower" I say, shutting the door behind him. I smile proudly, then go to his closet to pull out a clean hoodie and sweats for him. "Chris, your clothes are outside, okay?" I call out to him gently. I hear a grunt and then the shower turns on. I smile, looking around. I haven't been here too much, just seen it briefly. I looked around at the gadgets he had around and all the cute photos of the boys he kept. I pulled out a photo album and decided to look through it. Laying on his bed, I opened it up, smiling at all the pictures he'd kept. I notice Chris stepping out, hair damp but looking refreshed. I smiled at him as he lay down beside me. "Aren't they so cute?" He gestures to the photo album. I hum, closing it and putting it on his bedside table. I feel his arms snake around me, hugging me tightly.

"You know, I never bother to sleep because I'm scared?" He mumbles his head next to my ear. "When I was 7, my parents told me to sleep, and when I woke up, I saw their bodies lying lifeless on the ground."

I snuggle up against him. "Chris" I say softly

"And now I feel like if I sleep, everyone I love will be snatched away from me."

I grab his cheeks softly "You're not going to lose anyone, Chris, not if I can help it."

"You'll stay?" He whispers

"I'll stay."

Heavy. I woke up to something warm and heavy. I blink the sleep out of my eyes, and see Chris sleeping, basically on top of me. I squirm away, trying my best not to wake him. I stretch, reading the clock. 4:00 am. Wonderful. I grab one of Chris's hoodies on the way out to keep me warm in the cold outside his warm room. I step out and head down to the living room. "Did you guys fuck?" A raspy voice asked, making me jump. I whip around to see Roman, sipping coffee.

"Roman!" I squeak, clutching my chest "You scared me!"

"Looking at the hoodie, I'd assume so" He eyes me up and down with a knowing look

"No! Roman, we did not-" I glare at him

"Whatever you say hun" He smiles

"I'm being serious! We didn't!"

"Alright, I believe you" He smiles.

"What are you doing so early?" I asked sitting beside him. "Also, when did everyone get home? I didn't see anyone all day yesterday!"

"I dunno" He shrugs "i was out"

The way he fidgeted with the rings he wore told me otherwise.
