The ball was breathtaking. I walked in with everyone, my arm linked with Shai. They were all dressed to the nines, their blazers in various shades of grey, blue and black. My dress was black too, a silk fabric that stopped at my mid thigh. I was nervous for this, I wasn't sure if our plan would work as Amari and Chris hoped. I didn't know how I agreed to this. "Sweetheart, I guess this is your debut with us" Amari whispered into my ear.

"Debut?" I whisper back "I'm leaving soon, remember?" He just smiles, and starts looking around.

"You know who to find and what to do right?"

"Yes Amari, I'll be fine!" I smile. I've been walked through this plan so many times, It's been drilled into my brain. We parted ways, so our target didn't know who I was acquainted with. I had an earpiece in my ear, and Aspen directed me through it. I smile politely as I look around, my eyes scanning the room. My eyes fell on someone. The leader of the Dark Horses. He wasn't our target, but the guys told me to avoid him at all costs. I didn't think he could be that bad, but I trust they know better than me. I head over to the bar and call over the bartender. 'I should loosen up' I think to myself. I down a margarita, somewhat enjoying the burn that followed. The night was going well, except I couldn't find the guy. 'Where the hell is he?' I murmur to myself. Suddenly someone bumps into me. "Sorry!" I say hurriedly looking to see who it was. My lips curve up into a smile as I see exactly who I want. Skylar Root. He was the drug dealer of another mafia, and he owed us money. "Hey!" I say, trying to be friendly. He looks at me and pauses, but then goes to ordering. I slide up to him "Let me buy you a drink, it's the least I could do for bumping into you, you know?" I smile. His dark eyes bore into me. I wring my hands, it was a nervous habit.

"Fine." He says

"Really?!"

"Do it before I change my mind"

"Okay!" I smile "what do you want?"

"Whiskey" he says, going to sit down on a stool. I order for him, and slide on the stool next to him.

"How are you?" i ask, trying to make small talk

"Why would you care?" he drawls.

I smile in frustration. This guy was not making my job simple. "You're really pretty." I murmur.

He looks at me, an eyebrow arched. "You just want me in your pants, don't you?"

My eyes widen in surprise. "Maybe I do" I suggest confidently.

He chuckles. And accepts the whiskey that the bartender hands him. I hear Aspen through my ear "Lyn,n, his drink is spiked, just get him to drink it".

"Cheers?" I ask holding my drink out.

"Cheers" He says clinking our glasses together, and we each chug our drink. I step in between his legs, and wrap my arms around his neck.

"Do you wanna get a room?" I playfully suggest, hoping the drink's effects would kick in soon. He nods, and I lead him upstairs. There, I shut the door gently, and turn around, to see him sitting on the sofa. I smile at him, and walk toward him. 'When are the effects going to kick in?' I think to myself impatiently. I sit on his lap, and grab his hair. "Did I tell you you're really pretty?" I murmur, our lips almost touching. He was halfway under, eyes heavy-lidded and body near limp. I watch as he falls fully limp under me, and feel a smile creep across my lips. First Mission, Success. I step back as I hear the door open, Chris and Shai walk in. "Great performance sweetheart" Chris smiles playfully. I feel my cheeks heating up.

"Thanks!" I smile.

The next hour went by as a blur. We now had the Skylar Root's body in our basement, and everyone was sitting on the couch, watching Mean Girls. I don't know how I convinced them to watch, but now they're invested. I lean into Rylen's chest, letting his cinnamon, musky scent wash over me. Life with them wasn't so bad.
