Taehyung, still holding the carrot cake, gestured dramatically toward the moon. “Fine, since you’re here, you can help me finish this. No sense in wasting good cake.”
Jungkook gave him a flat look. “You brought a carrot cake to confess. Why?”
“It’s symbolic,” Taehyung said, cutting into the cake with a random plastic knife he pulled out of his pocket. “Carrots are for rabbits, and you’re a noisy bunny.”
“Wow,” Jungkook deadpanned, crossing his arms. “Your creativity astounds me.”
“Come on, don’t act like you’re not impressed,” Taehyung said, plopping a chunk of cake onto a plate and holding it out to Jungkook. “You can’t resist my charm or my dessert.”
Jungkook hesitated, then rolled his eyes and accepted the plate. “Fine. But if this tastes awful, I’m throwing it at you.”
Taehyung smirked. “Deal.”
As Jungkook took a bite, he begrudgingly admitted to himself that it wasn’t bad. But he wasn’t about to give Taehyung the satisfaction. “It’s... edible,” he muttered.
“Edible?!” Taehyung exclaimed, clutching his chest as if Jungkook had stabbed him. “I poured my heart and soul into that cake!”
“Pretty sure you just poured flour and sugar into a bowl,” Jungkook retorted, stuffing another bite into his mouth.
Taehyung shrugged. “Same thing.”
For a few moments, there was silence, save for the sound of them eating cake under the soft glow of the moon. It was almost peaceful—until Taehyung couldn’t resist breaking it.
“So... you really thought a girl was leaving you gifts?”
Jungkook froze mid-bite, glaring at Taehyung. “Don’t start.”
“Oh, come on!” Taehyung teased, leaning closer. “You were probably writing your wedding vows in your head.”
“Shut up,” Jungkook grumbled, cheeks flushing. “At least I wasn’t creeping around with cryptic notes about the moon.”
“It worked, didn’t it?” Taehyung said, leaning back with a triumphant grin.
Jungkook shook his head, finishing his cake. “You’re insufferable.”
“And yet, here you are,” Taehyung said, winking. “Sharing carrot cake with me under the moonlight. Romantic, isn’t it?”
Jungkook stood up, brushing crumbs off his hands. “I’m leaving.”
“Wait, wait!” Taehyung jumped up, blocking the exit. “At least admit you had fun!”
“Fun?” Jungkook echoed, raising an eyebrow. “This isn’t fun. This is you being annoying.”
“You’re smiling, though,” Taehyung pointed out, poking Jungkook’s cheek.
Jungkook swatted his hand away, the smile disappearing instantly. “I wasn’t smiling.”
“You totally were.”
“Was not.”
“Was too.”
“Taehyung,” Jungkook warned, pushing past him.
Taehyung watched him go, a wide grin on his face. “Goodnight, noisy bunny!”
“Goodnight, carrot cake weirdo!” Jungkook yelled back without turning around.
Taehyung laughed, leaning against the railing as he watched Jungkook disappear down the stairs. Maybe the moon really did look beautiful that night—but the way Jungkook walked away, muttering under his breath, was a close second.

The next morning, Jungkook woke up still annoyed about the previous night. Taehyung’s smug face kept replaying in his mind, and for some reason, it made him want to punch a pillow. Or maybe Taehyung himself.
As he trudged to class, coffee in hand, he spotted Taehyung leaning casually against the wall near the entrance of the medical building, a lollipop in his mouth and a mischievous glint in his eye.
“Oh great,” Jungkook muttered under his breath, trying to walk past him unnoticed.
But of course, Taehyung wasn’t about to let that happen. “Morning, noisy bunny!” he called out, making sure everyone in a five-meter radius heard him.
Jungkook froze mid-step, eyes narrowing. He turned slowly to face Taehyung. “Do you mind?”
“Not at all,” Taehyung replied, pulling the lollipop out of his mouth with a pop. “Did you sleep well? Dream of me?”
“Why would I dream of a headache like you?” Jungkook shot back, pushing past him. “Don’t you have engineering stuff to do?”
“Not until later,” Taehyung said, falling into step beside him. “So I thought I’d grace you with my presence. Lucky you.”
“More like cursed,” Jungkook muttered, taking a long sip of his coffee.
Taehyung ignored the jab, his grin growing wider. “By the way, how’s your carrot cake hangover? Craving more?”
“Will you stop bringing that up?” Jungkook groaned, already regretting his decision to not fake an illness and skip class.
“Nope. In fact,” Taehyung said, reaching into his bag and pulling out a small box, “I brought you a present.”
Jungkook eyed the box suspiciously. “What is that?”
“Open it and see,” Taehyung said, holding it out with an innocent smile that was anything but innocent.
With a heavy sigh, Jungkook snatched the box and opened it. Inside was a tiny, handmade figurine of a rabbit holding a carrot.
“You have got to be kidding me,” Jungkook said, holding it up like it was radioactive.
“It’s custom-made,” Taehyung said proudly. “Thought it’d suit you.”
Jungkook’s grip on the figurine tightened. “If you don’t leave me alone—”
“Relax, noisy bunny,” Taehyung said, patting him on the shoulder. “Consider it a peace offering. Or an apology for, you know, stealing your sandwich that one time.”
“That one time?” Jungkook repeated, incredulous. “You’ve stolen my food at least three times.”
“Details,” Taehyung said with a dismissive wave. “Anyway, I’ll see you later. Have fun saving lives or whatever.”
With that, Taehyung strolled off, leaving Jungkook standing there, still holding the ridiculous rabbit figurine.
Jungkook sighed, tucking the figurine into his bag. “I swear, that guy’s going to be the death of me.”
But as he headed to class, he couldn’t stop the small smile creeping onto his face. Maybe, just maybe, Taehyung’s chaos wasn’t all bad.
