After that emotional night, things between Taehyung and Jungkook took a turn for the better. Jungkook found himself smiling more, laughing more, and leaning into the comfort Taehyung offered. It wasn’t long before they decided to make things official.
The Morning After Their Confession
Jungkook woke up to the sound of his phone buzzing. He groggily reached for it, squinting at the screen.Good morning, boyfriend.- tae
He smiled at the message, his heart doing little flips. Before he could respond, another message came in.
Check your door.-tae
Curious, Jungkook got out of bed and shuffled to the door. When he opened it, a small bouquet of flowers sat on the floor with a note attached.
Thought you’d like these. But not as much as you like me, obviously. – T.
Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head. Taehyung was too much sometimes, but that was what made him so irresistible.
Later That Day
The two of them decided to grab lunch off-campus. Taehyung had insisted on taking Jungkook to his favorite spot, a cozy little café tucked away from the usual crowd.
Taehyung held the door open for Jungkook with a playful grin. “After you, my prince.”
Jungkook rolled his eyes but couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips. “You’re ridiculous.”
“And you love it,” Taehyung teased, following him inside.
Over lunch, Taehyung kept sneaking bites from Jungkook’s plate despite having ordered his own food.
“Taehyung, seriously, stop eating my fries,” Jungkook scolded, trying to shield his plate.
“But they taste better when they’re yours,” Taehyung replied with a wink, stealing another fry.
Jungkook huffed but didn’t stop him, secretly enjoying the attention.
As they strolled back to campus, Taehyung reached for Jungkook’s hand. It was a simple gesture, but it made Jungkook’s heart flutter.
“You don’t mind, right?” Taehyung asked, lacing their fingers together.
Jungkook shook his head, his cheeks turning pink. “No, I don’t mind.”
Taehyung grinned and gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “Good, because I’m not letting go.”
They walked in comfortable silence for a while until Taehyung suddenly stopped.
“What?” Jungkook asked, looking at him curiously.
“Nothing,” Taehyung said, his voice soft. “I just… I like this. Us.”
Jungkook’s chest warmed at the sincerity in Taehyung’s voice. “Me too,” he admitted, smiling shyly.

Later that evening they both went their home as tomorrow was weekend, Taehyung texted Jungkook again.
Look outside your window - tae
Jungkook raised an eyebrow but did as instructed. When he looked outside, he saw Taehyung standing below with a goofy grin, holding up a small sign that read: Goodnight, boyfriend.
Jungkook laughed and waved at him. “Go to bed, you idiot,” he called out.
“Not until you say goodnight back!” Taehyung whisper yelled.
“Goodnight, boyfriend,” Jungkook said, his voice fond.
Taehyung blew him a dramatic kiss before turning to leave, and Jungkook couldn’t stop smiling as he closed the window.
Taehyung sat on the floor of his room, his back against the bed, feeling the heavy weight of guilt in his chest. His father’s words echoed in his mind: "Since when did I teach you to lie?" The disappointment in his tone stung more than any scolding ever could.
Unable to bear the silence in the room, he dialed Jungkook's number. The moment he heard Jungkook's voice, he felt a sense of relief.
"Hello, Jungkook," Taehyung said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Hey, Tae. What's up?" Jungkook asked, the sound of faint chatter in the background indicating he was somewhere crowded.
"Where are you?" Taehyung asked, his tone laced with desperation.
"I'm at the stationery shop. Do you need anything?"
Taehyung hesitated for a moment before shaking his head, even though Jungkook couldn’t see him. "No, nothing. It's fine. Bye."
He ended the call abruptly and sighed, running his fingers through his hair. He felt like an idiot for bothering Jungkook with his troubles.
Ten minutes later, his phone buzzed. It was a text from Jungkook.
Open your window -jungkook
Confused, Taehyung got up and walked over to the window. When he opened it, he couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. There was Jungkook, climbing up a makeshift ladder he had propped against the wall like some modern-day Romeo.
"Are you serious?" Taehyung texted back.
Jungkook looked up from the ladder, grinning. "I’m always serious when it comes to you."
Taehyung chuckled as he watched Jungkook finally climb over the window sill and step into his room. Jungkook dusted off his hands, looking quite proud of himself.
"But you were outside," Taehyung said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, and then my boyfriend called me sounding like he was about to cry, so I came," Jungkook replied, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Taehyung’s lips curved into a small smile. "You didn’t have to."
Jungkook walked closer, placing a hand on Taehyung’s shoulder. "I wanted to."
Taehyung felt a lump form in his throat, his emotions threatening to spill over. He looked down, unable to meet Jungkook’s gaze.
"Hey," Jungkook said softly, tilting Taehyung’s chin up so their eyes met. "What’s wrong?"
Taehyung sighed. "My dad found out about the play. He’s disappointed in me. I... I’ve never seen him like that before. It feels awful."
Jungkook’s eyes softened, and he pulled Taehyung into a hug. "I’m sorry you’re feeling like this. But you’re not doing anything wrong, Tae. You’re helping your friends, and you’re doing something you enjoy. Your dad might not understand now, but he will."
Taehyung buried his face in Jungkook’s shoulder, finding comfort in his warmth. "What if he doesn’t?"
"He will," Jungkook said firmly. "Because you’re Taehyung. You’re kind, talented, and you care about everyone around you. No parent could stay disappointed in you for long."
Taehyung chuckled softly. "You’re biased."
"Maybe," Jungkook admitted, pulling back slightly to look at him. "But I’m also right."
Taehyung smiled, a genuine one this time, and Jungkook couldn’t help but smile back.
"Now," Jungkook said, placing his hands on Taehyung’s shoulders, "what do you need me to do? Want me to talk to your dad? Perform an impromptu dance number to win him over?"
Taehyung laughed, the sound filling the room and easing some of the tension. "No, you’ve done enough just by being here."
Jungkook grinned. "Good. Because climbing up here was exhausting, and I’m not doing it again."
They both laughed, and for the first time that day, Taehyung felt like everything might actually be okay.
