The reunion had ended hours ago, but Jungkook couldn’t calm his restless heart. He paced back and forth in his hotel room, biting his lip as he checked his phone for the hundredth time. No messages. No calls.
He sighed, rubbing his temples. Where is he?
Then—
Ding-dong.
Jungkook's heart skipped a beat. He rushed to the door, taking a deep breath before opening it.x
And there stood Taehyung.
Dressed in a sleek black coat, hair slightly tousled from the cold night breeze, and in his hands—a bouquet of fresh red roses. His signature smirk played on his lips, but there was something softer in his eyes. Something only Jungkook could see.
The moment their eyes met, Taehyung moved.
He stepped inside and pulled Jungkook into a bone-crushing hug, his arms wrapping tightly around him. Jungkook gasped at the sudden warmth, but before he could react—
Taehyung kissed him.
It wasn’t soft or hesitant—it was deep, urgent, full of longing. His lips moved against Jungkook’s as if he was making up for all the times he had to pretend they weren’t together.
Jungkook melted into him, gripping the front of Taehyung’s coat to pull him closer. Their bodies fit perfectly, just as they always had.
The door clicked shut as Taehyung pushed it closed with his foot, never once letting go.
When they finally pulled apart, Jungkook pouted, his eyes narrowing. “You said you’d come early! I waited for you at the airport for an hour.”
Taehyung chuckled, pecking his lips again. “Sorry, baby. My flight got delayed.”
Jungkook huffed, crossing his arms. “You better make it up to me.”
Taehyung grinned, wrapping his arms around Jungkook’s waist. “I plan to.”
The peaceful moment between them was abruptly cut off by the loud vibration of Taehyung’s phone. The sudden noise made Jungkook jump slightly, still caught in the afterglow of their reunion.
Taehyung groaned, pulling his phone out of his pocket. His heart dropped slightly when he saw the caller ID—Mom.
He quickly answered, clearing his throat. "Hello, Mom?"
"Taehyung-ah, where are you? Didn’t you say you’d be arriving today?" Mrs. Kim’s voice was firm but gentle, laced with motherly concern.
Taehyung shot a glance at Jungkook, who was now sitting up on the bed, eyes wide with curiosity. Thinking quickly, Taehyung replied, "Ah, no, Mom! My flight got cancel, so I’ll be arriving tomorrow instead." He tried to sound as natural as possible, hoping she wouldn’t question it further.
"Oh, I see. That’s unfortunate. Well, have a safe flight, my son. Call me when you land, alright?"
"Of course, Mom. Love you."
"Love you too, baby."
With that, the call ended. Taehyung exhaled dramatically, flopping onto the bed with a relieved sigh.
"Phew, that was close."
Jungkook, who had been watching the entire exchange, narrowed his eyes. "When did you even tell her you were coming today?" he asked, shifting closer to Taehyung on the bed.
Taehyung groaned, covering his face with his hands. "I didn’t! Maybe Jiya said something… or maybe Lia. These girlfriends are going to expose us one day, I swear."
Jungkook snickered, lying down beside him. "Well, to be fair, you’re the one who keeps telling them everything. It’s your own fault, hyung."
Taehyung turned his head to glare at him. "Excuse me? I don’t tell them everything."
Jungkook raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. "Oh really? Who was the one who told Jiya about the time you cried watching a puppy video at 3 AM?"
Taehyung gasped in betrayal. "That was one time! And it was an emotional video!"
Jungkook burst into laughter, his whole body shaking from amusement. Taehyung huffed and crossed his arms, pouting like a child.
After a few moments, Jungkook sighed and rested his head on Taehyung’s chest. "I hate lying to them."
Taehyung softened, wrapping an arm around Jungkook’s waist. "I know, baby. Me too."
Jungkook played with Taehyung’s fingers absentmindedly. "How much longer can we keep doing this?"
Taehyung exhaled, pressing a kiss to the top of Jungkook’s head. "Not forever. Just a little more, I promise."
Jungkook hummed in response, closing his eyes. "You better not break that promise."
"Never."
And in that quiet hotel room, amidst the lies and the stolen moments, they found comfort in each other once again.
Pretending to hate each other in front of everyone. Pretending to be strangers when their hearts only beat for one another.
For two years, they had lived a lie—letting their families and friends believe they had broken up, when in reality, they had never let go. They had loved each other in stolen moments, in secret texts and hidden meetups.
"I feel like crying. Nothing is helping me. I want to cry so badly, but my tears are too stubborn to fall. It took me so many days to overcome my anxiety and depression, but now it’s back again."
