A/N: This one-shot is highly political. If you don't like it, don't read it. I do not want a political debate in the comments, and if I see hate speech, arguing, or anything else, I will delete the comments. You don't have to agree with it, but you do have to keep in mind that this is a Hetalia one-shot, not a soapbox. Also, this one is not explicitly USUK/UKUS-- you could easily interpret it as friendship or whatever else.

America ducked into the meeting room, narrowly making it on time. "Hey, Iggy!" He greeted.

England raised a brow in jest, looking up from organizing his files for the meeting. "Lovely to see you, America. You almost didn't make it."

"Psh," He waved it off, setting his briefcase down and popping the locks to get his files out. "I'd never miss a meeting with my closest ally." He set the folders on the table. "Had any others this morning?"

"Too many. Ireland was first, then Japan, and I had Denmark before you. You're last for today, though."

America grimaced as he searched for a pen. "Ireland? Yikes. Did it go okay?"

England sighed and rested his chin on one hand. "Not too bad, I suppose. We didn't get into any fights, if that's what you mean. But it was awkward. As usual."

Nodding, America finally located a ballpoint, holding it up in victory. "You're my last for today, too. I can one up you as far as shitty meetings today go, though— I had Israel at fucking eight AM."

"Oh," England winced. "Yes, you win by far. I assume that was a lot first thing in the morning."

"For sure. It's hard to deal with her when my government and I can't seem to agree, too, you know?"

"I'm sure. How are things between you and your leaders? Last time we spoke on the phone you had had another falling out, as I recall? Over the meeting with Angola?"

America sighed. "Yeah. It hasn't been resolved. I've let it go. I can only harass the White House about so many things at a time before they just start dropping the ball on everything I bring up."

"I know how that feels."

"It's only going to get worse after Trump is back in office. That's the first item on my agenda today, actually." He thumbed through the papers and pulled one.

"And I imagine it will continue to be for the next four years."

America laughed humorlessly and sat down. "I think we should start with NATO. Unless you'd rather start with this EU spat."

"Let's start with NATO," England said as he leaned back in his chair. He could feel a headache coming on already.

"Right. So, as we've talked about, Trump wants out, you and I know that's a disaster waiting to happen, yada yada yada. My issue is— he doesn't have a real motivation to chip away at. It's not even really about economics for him. He's just a loose cannon, as usual."

England puffed out a breath. "Yes, I'm fully aware." He pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head. "It's like watching a train wreck happen in slow motion."

"And I don't want that train plowing through our alliance. Right now..." He laughed a little breathlessly, like he couldn't even believe what he was saying. "Right now, my plan is literally to distract him. Give him other things to be upset about to delay him from fucking with NATO."
