The deal with Angelo D'Arcy set a series of plans into motion but cast a shadow over Ryuvyna's conscience. As they drove back to Park mansion, the weight of her decision pressed down on her.
"You sure this is the right move?" Victor asked from the passenger seat, breaking the silence.
"It's not about being right," Ryuvyna said, her voice firm. "It's about surviving. Angelo is ruthless but hates the Jeons as much as we do. He won't betray us until we're useful to him."
Daniel, at the wheel, didn't say anything, but his silence spoke volumes.
As they pulled into the driveway, Jayden was waiting on the front steps, his expression grim.
"What did D'Arcy say?" he asked as they stepped out.
Jayden's jaw tightened. "You've tied us to a viper, Ryuvyna. Angelo will want more than just revenge. He'll want control."
"Let him think he's getting it," Ryuvyna replied. "As long as we take down the Jeons, that's all that matters."
Jayden sighed, rubbing his temple. "You're playing with fire. I hope you're ready for the consequences."
Later that night, Ryuvyna sat in her room, pouring over the ledger again. She traced her fingers over a name that had appeared multiple times: Jaesun Lee.
Jaesun was one of the Jeons' top lieutenants, a man infamous for his cruelty and cunning. According to the ledger, he was instrumental in orchestrating a betrayal against Junghyun. If there was anyone who knew the truth about her father's disappearance, it was him.
A knock on her door made her look up. Daniel stepped in, his presence a mix of concern and professionalism.
"You're planning something," he said, not bothering to mask his accusation.
Ryuvyna smirked. "You always know, don't you?"
She leaned back in her chair. "Jaesun Lee. He's in the city, and he's the key to unraveling everything."
Daniel's brows furrowed. "You want to go after him?"
"We have to," Ryuvyna said firmly. "He's the one who turned on Junghyun. If anyone knows what happened to my father, it's him."
Daniel exhaled sharply, clearly weighing the risks. "If Jayden finds out..."
"Jayden won't find out," she interrupted. "Not until I have answers."
"You're stubborn," Daniel said, a hint of admiration in his tone. "Fine. But if we're doing this, we do it right."
The next evening, Ryuvyna, Daniel, and Victor arrived at Hongdae Club, one of Jaesun's known haunts. The club was loud and chaotic, the perfect cover for their mission.
Ryuvyna slipped into a sleek dark blue dress, her hair tied back in a way that emphasized her sharp features. If she was going to confront Jaesun, she needed to look the part.
"He's in the VIP section," Daniel said, nodding toward the roped-off area guarded by two imposing men.
"Leave them to me," Victor said with a grin, already moving toward the guards with a forged pass and a convincingly charming smile.
As Victor distracted the guards, Daniel led Ryuvyna past the ropes, keeping her close. They moved through the dimly lit lounge until they spotted Jaesun at a corner table, surrounded by women and flanked by his bodyguards.
"Mr. Jaesun Lee," she said, her voice steady despite the tension.
Jaesun looked up, his dark eyes narrowing as he studied her. "Who are you?"
"Ryuvyna Park," she said, sliding into the seat across from him before he could object.
His lips curled into a smirk. "Ah, the infamous little Park. What brings you to my table?"
She placed a hand on the table, leaning forward. "I think you know why. Junghyun Jeon. My father. I want answers."
Jaesun's smirk faltered for a brief moment before he chuckled. "Bold of you to come here and demand answers. Do you know who you're talking about?"
"I do," Ryuvyna said, meeting his gaze unflinchingly. "And I know you were the one who betrayed him. The ledger has your name all over it."
Jaesun's expression darkened, and his bodyguards shifted uncomfortably.
"What do you want, girl?" he growled.
"The truth," she said. "Why did you betray him? And what happened to him after that?"
Jaesun leaned back, taking a small sip of his drink. "You think you're ready for the truth? Junghyun wasn't the man you think he was. He played his own game, and he paid the price for it."
"Stop dodging the question," Ryuvyna snapped. "Where is he?"
Jaesun smirked again, but this time it was cruel. "You want answers? Fine. Junghyun is dead. And if you keep poking around, you'll join him."
Ryuvyna's blood ran cold, but she didn't let it show. "Then you'll have to kill me first."
Before Jaesun could respond, Daniel stepped forward, his gun discreetly pressed against Jaesun's side.
"I wouldn't try it," Daniel said coldly. "You're outnumbered and outplayed."
Jaesun glared at him, but he didn't move.
"You've made a mistake coming here," he hissed.
"Maybe," Ryuvyna said, standing. "But we're not done. I'll find out the rest with or without your help."
As she and Daniel left the club, her mind was racing. Junghyun was dead or so Jaesun claimed. But the way he had said it left room for doubt.
If Junghyun really was gon, why did Jaesun still seem so afraid?
