Mazrah// 6:00 hours before the Incident// Time_ Unknown.

I spent three hours stuck in an improvised lab in the warehouse.
The team promptly attended all my requests; providing the tools and materials at the best of their abilities.
Captain Price was confident in the idea, despite the fact that such a plan entailed the risk of them exposing themselves to the serum effects.

Ghost went such lengths of commitment by infiltrating a medical facility in the enemy territory and snatched enough supplies to make a big batch of the truth serum. Elise was hovering me while the entire operation was in motion. It was an awkward interaction, to say the least.
While Gaz was backing up Ghost and Johnny during that particular mission, Elise backed away from the comms desk, boring her unreadable gaze all over me once again. After an uncomfortable amount of time, she decided to break the silence.

- ... Simon is being a life saver; don't you think?

- I'm sorry; a what now?

- Simon. - she emphasized; a feeling of anticipation for a reaction glistening in her eyes.

- Oh, you mean Lieutenant Riley. - I was too focused on my notes. - I believe he's invested in the plan. He wants the mole captured, after all.

- I see. - she sauntered towards me. - Sticking to formalities, Angie?

- I fail to understand what you are implying with that, Elise.

- Who, me? Nah, I'm just finding it strange. Did something happen between you two?

I paused, my astonished gaze briefly floating to a blank space before darting straight at Elise. Her attempt to rile me up unfortunately worked... I was annoyed.

- As far as I know, we're deployed and on duty, A-06 St. John-Torres. - My tone was dry and frosty. - The respect between me and the lieutenant is mutual and appreciated.

- Oh. - Her pervasive smug faded. - I'm sorry if I sounded nosy. It's been a rough week.

- You should stop blending personal matters with professional life... I know discernment is difficult to develop, but common sense shouldn't be that hard to have it.

- What the fuck, Angie!

- You heard me, Elise. - I calmly rested the tablet on a desk. - Your lack of emotional intelligence can jeopardize our success rate in missions. Not everything is about drama and messy situations. Put yourself together at least once in your life.

I knew I struck a nerve by calling her out. To me, it was a relief; I was getting tired of her antics. A borderline sociopath pulling strings around just to rile people up and act with "justified violence"...
What an entitled bitch. Not on my face, that was for sure! Maláka!
Her mouth got awfully quiet, but her aggravated expression was loud enough to deliver the message... She was mentally cursing me out; probably a whole enriched vocabulary of insults.
Like I could give two shits about her... At that point, I was willing to be rude and uninviting; her friendship was fake as it could be.

She slammed her fist on a table and stormed out of the lab, with heavy steps on her feet and mumbling unintelligible rants and curses in between her teeth. As she slammed the door behind her, Gaz flinched, having his concentration broken by his "bestie's" bad temper. He glanced at me with a confused gaze, not understanding what just happened.

- What the fuck got into her?

- Nothing that she can't cope with, Sargeant Garrick. - I replied, with a subtle amusement in my tone. - Apologies for disturbing you.

- Elise has been having her knickers in a twist lately... I'll talk to her once we're done with the mission. - He left the comment in the air and then turned his attention back to the comms desk.
