Everyone waited anxiously at the temple.Abhi was nowhere to be seen, and his phone was switched off.
Ananya paced near the steps, worry etched deep on her face. She murmured under her breath, blaming herself.
Ananya:- Mujhe Abhi ko saath mai hi Lana chahiye tha,ye meri hi galti hai.
(I should have brought Abhi along with me, it's my mistake.)
Rhea quickly placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
Rhea:- Nahi Bhabhi aisa mat boliye......aap ki koi galti nahi hai...bhaiya aajayenge.
(No Bhabhi, please don't say that... it's not your fault... Bhaiya will come.)
Rajveer:- Ha puttar,tu fikar na kar....wo Khoteya nu toh..mai Abhi jakar ghar se lekar aata hu.
(Yes, puttar, don't worry... that idiot, I will go and bring him from the house.)
Kajal:- Ha jaiye na dekhiye wo kaha reh gaya hai.
(Yes, go and see where he is.)
As Rajveer turned to leave with Abhay, the faint hum of a car engine broke the silence. Everyone turned toward the entrance. Abhi's car came into view, the headlights cutting through the twilight. The car screeched to a halt, and Abhi stepped out.
He was dressed in an elegant cream sherwani embroidered with gold thread, but his appearance shocked everyone. His eyes were bloodshot, the skin around them puffy and red. Trails of dried tears marred his face, betraying the storm he had endured.
Kajal hurried toward him,
Kajal:- Puttar, kaha tha tu?Aur tera phone kyu switched off tha?
(Puttar, where were you? And why was your phone switched off?)
Abhi forced a weak smile, though it didn't reach his eyes.
Abhi:- Wo..maa..mera phone charge nahi tha...aur mujhe mere joote bhi nahi mil rahe the...isliye time lag gaya.
(Well... Maa... my phone wasn't charged, and I couldn't find my shoes, that's why it took time.)
Everyone could tell he was lying, but no one pushed him further. Instead, they simply nodded, their concern visible in their eyes.
Abhi straightened his posture and spoke in a flat voice.
Abhi:- Chale.
( Let's go.)
Kajal tried again, her voice soft.
Kajal:- Beta,tu.
(Son....you.)
Abhi:- Chaliye maa upar chalte hai sab hamara intezar kar rahe hai.
(Come on, Maa, let's go upstairs. Everyone is waiting for us.)
