Mirabel, Paimon and I walked up the many, many stairs. We had a really nice chat on the way up. It wasn't long before we were extremely exhausted. It felt like the stairs were endless.
“How long… How long have we been walking?” I asked, my lungs burning.
“You got me.” Mirabel panted, “Magical how many stairs fit in here. Bruno! Your room is the worst!”
We were extremely jealous that Paimon was just floating.
When we finally made it to the top, we saw a small canyon with no way to get across.
“Great!” I groaned, “Now what are we gonna do?”
Mirabel looked around. She grabbed one of the rope railings from the stairs and used it as a grappling hook. The stick got caught on the rocks of the mountains on the other side of the canyon. Paimon floated to the other side.
Uh, oh.
I looked down from the edge of the canyon seeing how far the ground was, my throat practically closing up, “Uh… are you sure this is a good idea?”
“Do you see another way across?” Mirabel asked, “I don't think Paimon is strong enough to carry us.”
“Don't count on Paimon’s strength anytime soon.” Paimon said.
“I was afraid you'd say that.” I said, getting more nervous.
“It's ok. I'll go first.” Mirabel said. She readied herself at the edge of the canyon before jumping, screaming as she swung across.
“Mirabel!” Paimon exclaimed.
Thankfully, she landed safely on the other side. Mirabel cheered for herself, stomping her foot down, causing a piece of the cliff to crumble.
“Ah!” We all watched as the rock fell to the ground. The bird that flew away from us earlier looked at Mirabel with a “really?” expression, making her chuckle awkwardly.
“Just… don't do what I just did.” Mirabel said to me.
I gulped. Paimon brought the rope over to me, “Paimon promises to do her best to catch you.”
I nodded, almost hyperventilating. I closed my eyes and jumped off the ledge, “Ahhhhh!!!” I felt myself swing across the canyon and was roughly caught by Mirabel and Paimon.
“See? Paimon told you we'd catch you.”
I opened my eyes, getting as far away from the canyon as possible, “Ay… thanks.” I took a deep breath to steady my nerves, “Let's just find the vision and get out of here.”
We slowly walked into the tower in a dimly lit hall. It was kinda creepy. We freaked out when rats ran past our feet. The toucan perched itself on Mirabel's shoulder, looking at the circular door on the other end of the hall. The toucan flew right out of there.
“Quitter!” Mirabel shouted.
“Well, it's now or never.” I said. We slowly entered the room. It was dark and covered in sand.
“What does a vision look like?” Paimon asked.
I saw a green glow buried in the sand, “There!”
Mirabel picked up the piece, examining it, “What's hurting the magic?”
“Here's another one!” Paimon said, picking up another piece and handing it to Mirabel.
She noticed the pieces fit together like a puzzle. She put them together and saw something, “Me...?”
We felt rumbling. Oh, god…
